I’ve been reflecting on how much fear shapes people’s reactions right now, especially online. When we encounter views different from our own, it’s so easy to respond from a place of fear rather than love. I experienced this firsthand on Instagram this week, where people have been unkind simply because my perspective differs from theirs. But I keep coming back to something fundamental and that is…fear is the opposite of love, and we need more love and truth in the world now more than ever.

What I’m learning is that we all need to speak from a place of kindness and compassion, not division. Women especially have such power to build community, to be that soft place to land for one another, to nurture understanding even when we disagree. Being unkind to someone because you don’t share their views doesn’t move us forward…it only creates more separation when what we desperately need is unity. My daughter reminded me recently that people are finding their way, and we all deserve to feel loved in that process. That’s the energy I want to put into the world…not judgment or fear, but genuine love, grace, and the willingness to hold space for one another even in our differences.

And yes, I’m choosing to show up joyfully as I get dressed each day – because joyful fashion as a form of rebellion means that I’m refusing to let fear and division dim my light. Finding beauty and expressing myself with intention is part of living from love, not fear.

This entire look embodies what I mean by joyful fashion as a form of rebellion! It’s about choosing pieces that make you feel beautiful and confident, even (or especially) when you’re standing in the snow. It’s about creating a winter outfit that’s functional AND fabulous, proving that cold weather style doesn’t have to be boring. Life’s too short for boring!
