Clearly, I’m starting to think about early fall dressing, even though the temperatures (and humidity) are still telling me it’s summer! This rich chocolate brown dress feels like the perfect place to start. It’s sleeveless and lightweight enough to wear now, and I love it with these raffia platform sandals that I’ve worn all summer long and my new little raffia bag. The deeper colors in the bag make it feel less summery and something I’ll continue carrying into early fall. And when the evenings finally start to cool down, I can easily throw a sweater over my shoulders and keep wearing this dress well into the season. This is also the time of year when I start looking for small ways to bring in fall…a suede sandal, for example, still works beautifully while it’s warm but gives an outfit just a hint of what’s coming. The boutique below is filled with gorgeous dresses, along with accessories that make it easy to start making that transition without dressing for weather that simply isn’t here yet.

I always enjoy this point in the season because it gives me a chance to look at my closet a little differently. Instead of putting summer away and starting over, I can mix in a few new pieces and find different ways to wear what I already love. And really, that’s the best kind of wardrobe…pieces that work now and that I know I’ll still be wearing when fall finally arrives.
I’m headed back to Bald Head Island later today for a couple of weeks and hoping that this trip is much less eventful than the last! Thanks so much for reading today…have a great week!
