Six Transitional Looks to Consider – Fall On My Mind

01

Happy Sunday! I have a busy day ahead because I’m throwing a baby shower for my nephew and his wife, who are having their second baby soon. I was going to host here at home, but since we have a bit of a situation with the tree falling, I decided to have it at our club down the street. It will actually be very nice and, honestly, much easier!

Anywho…fall has been on my mind lately. Usually I don’t want summer to end, but it’s been so humid and buggy here that I’m really looking forward to a little bit of crisp fall weather. I know it will be a while, but I’m already planning and sliding in a few pieces that have fall colors and a more fall-leaning feel…adding a little suede here and there and bringing in richer colors and textures.

I still want to be comfortable and dress for the weather we actually have, but I’m just so excited about fall clothes. I’m hoping maybe if I start wearing a few of the fall things, the fall weather will follow!

I put together six collages with some of the looks, colors and combinations that are inspiring me for fall. Some of these things can definitely start working their way into my wardrobe now, and others are purely me planning ahead and dreaming about cooler days. I love the earthy colors, greens, browns, cream and denim, and all the texture that comes with getting dressed for fall.

For now, I’ll add in the things that make sense for the weather and keep the rest in mind for later. Half the fun of a new season is planning what I’m going to wear when it finally gets here!

Now…if the weather would just cooperate!

//Silk Blouse//Striped Pants//Green Cardigan//Jo Malone Cologne//Beaded Sandals//Suede Bag//

I purchased the striped pants a few weeks ago and love them…they are insanely long on me, but a quick hem will fix that. I think they’ll be so much fun dressed up with a frilly silk blouse now and with a cardigan sweater later. The suede bag and necklace are perfect accessories and the sandals (also love these sandals) work well for the warmer weather. I would consider these for when the weather turns.

//White Blouse//Oversized Brown Cardigan//Tapestry Bag//Green Corduroy Pants//Suede Flats//

The white blouse above from AYR is on my list and is such a great basic and will literally go with everything in my closet. The green corduroy pants (I have then in white denim) are an unexpected color and are absolutely amazing with the brown cardigan and the tapestry bag (similar and less expensive here) and…could the little suede flats be any cuter!

//Cropped Denim Jacket//Fringe Skirt//Necklace//Black Suede Bag//Stiletto Boots//

The fringe skirt is another pieces I recently ordered. It hasn’t arrived yet but I’m so excited! Fringe is a huge trend this season and this skirt will be so much fun to wear to all kinds of things from dinner out to holiday parties. The suede boots are gorgeous and perfect with the skirt. I also really like the contrast of the cropped denim jacket and it’s such a versatile piece. The pendant necklace adds just a touch of polish to the look.

//Cardigan Vest//Green Beaded Necklace//Dries Van Noten Cologne//Off White Satin Pants//Green Suede Mary Janes//Green Bag//

Go ahead and wear this look right now! It’s a casual look made up of pieces that you’ll wear in many different ways. The pants are favorites from Donni and I’ll wear them all year long. The Mary Jane trend is still going strong and these suede ones (similar but less expensive here) give a nod to fall in the best way. The little crochet sweater vest would be great with jeans and also worn as a vest over a tee or tank. Add a green bag and beaded necklace to finish the look.

//Tortoise Sunglasses//Short Sleeve Sweater//Silk Pants//Suede Bag//Stiletto Booties//

These silk tiger print pants are so fabulous and couldn’t be more perfect paired with a short sleeve ecru sweater. Pair these items with chocolate brown suede booties, a fabulous suede bag and oversized sunglasses! I have very similar sunglasses that I purchased over 5 years ago and still wear and love today. They even have little bite marks from when Amos was a baby and chewed on them. They are timeless and fabulous!

//Faux Leather Jacket//Sunglasses//Trouser Jeans//Green Suede Bag//Block Heel Booties//

And last but not least…I also purchased this faux leather green jacket from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m beyond excited to wear it with long dark wash trouser jeans and booties. The green suede bag is on my wish list because it matches perfectly, but we’ll see. I think the pink sunglasses are a fun option for this look!

Below I’m including a boutique with everything from this post as well as a few other things that caught my eye!

I hope these collages give you a little inspiration as we start thinking about fall! I know some of the pieces I’ve included are definitely splurges, so with a few of them, I added a similar option at a lower price point (like this tapestry bag). It got me thinking that it might be fun to put together some high/low collages with the same feel at different price points. Would you be interested in seeing a “look for less” post with more affordable alternatives to some of the pieces I love? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks so much for reading today!

~XOXO Suzanne
