The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of my favorite sales of the year because it’s one of the rare times you can shop new arrivals for the upcoming season at a discount instead of picking through end-of-season clearance. This year’s sale opens in stages, with Icon members shopping beginning July 14, Ambassador members on July 15, Influencer members on July 16, and the sale opening to everyone on July 18. The event runs through August 9, but the best pieces rarely last that long.

If you’re building a wardrobe thoughtfully, this is the time to invest in the pieces you’ll wear for years. I always look first at quality boots, handbags, cashmere sweaters, classic denim, outerwear, and beauty tools that almost never go on sale. It’s also the perfect opportunity to start checking names off your holiday gift list. Luxury candles, beauty sets, cozy pajamas, travel accessories, and designer accessories make wonderful gifts, and buying them now means you’ll save significantly before the holiday season arrives.
