A Favorite Fall Look & a Trip To Spain

01

Thoughts on travel and my fall uniform!

Life has been very busy lately…September is full of family birthdays, and we’re not done yet!

Last week, I made dinner for my daughter Rebecca’s birthday, which was actually yesterday. We celebrated a little early because she and her husband were leaving for Boston to attend a wedding, and they left our granddaughter Stella here. Luckily, her other grandparents live close by, so we were able to share the caregiving…this time, they had her a little more because she slept there. We are so fortunate to have them close by!

I love spending time with Stella…she has quite the little personality and makes me laugh with the things she says! I called here Babe yesterday and she said “my name isn’t Babe…it’s Stella!

Anyway…Rebecca shares a birthday with my grandson Hudson, and we had dinner for his birthday last night. He turned 11! Where does the time go? I made dinner and took it to their house because our dining room table is filled with things from the room that was destroyed by the tree. I’m slowly getting everything organized, and it’s been quite a job. We are also still dealing with the insurance so we’re unable to tear down the room just yet and it’s honestly driving me crazy!

And…in the middle of all of this, I decided to go to Spain for a week!

My friend Julie Miles (she makes the pearls I’m always wearing) called and said, “Love…come with me to Spain.” Julie is Australian and has the best accent. Well, at first I thought, no way—but then I thought…why not?!

One of the reasons I decided to take this trip is that I’m realizing just how quickly time goes by. I’m 63 now, and I want to see the world and not waste a minute. I also think travel is so important because it gives us the opportunity to experience other cultures and step outside of our own little boxes. It expands the mind, and I’m ready for more of that!

So, I’m leaving on Thursday (the day after tomorrow) to spend a week with her and one of her friends. We’re going to Puerto Banús, a beautiful coastal area in Marbella, and I’m very excited!

I’m in the process of packing, and that’s honestly the hardest part for me, but I’m determined not to overpack this trip. I’ve been doing a little research, and everyone seems to dress up a bit, so I’m taking lots of dresses and cute sandals and looking forward to having an adventure!

And now…on to today’s post.

I’m wearing one of my favorite Tuckernuck sweaters from last spring (last seen here), jeans from AMO and my new leopard flats (in love), along with a bag from Polène Paris (similar here), a quilted tote from Call It By Your Name and the perfect yellow sunglasses from Amazon.

This is the way I normally dress every day when the weather finally starts to cooperate. Yesterday, the high here was 93, and I’m honestly over it! We’ll have a slight break, but temperatures will remain in the 80s for the foreseeable future. It’s not sweater weather yet, but you can believe I’ll be ready when it gets here!

Keep scrolling for a boutique with everything I’m wearing, along with a few less expensive options. And…let me know if you want to see what I’m packing for Spain!

I’ve written before about this charming fountain just down the street from our house. I rode my bike along this street and even played in the fountain as a child…yes, you read that correctly! This neighborhood is so familiar to me, and I love having such a true sense of place.

But I think that’s also one of the reasons I want to travel. When you’ve lived in the same town, in the same neighborhood and on the same street your entire life, seeing other parts of the world really does put things into perspective.

I’m off to do ten thousand things…I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and I always hope you find some outfit inspiration in each one!

Thanks so much for reading today!

~XOXO Suzanne
