Some dresses just make life easier, and this Jude Connally dress is one of them.

I love navy because it always seems to make my eyes look a little bluer, and this beautiful summer print (seashells, fish and crabs) feels timeless without being too serious. It’s polished enough for lunch with friends or a casual dinner out, but comfortable enough to throw on for errands, the farmers market or an afternoon on the patio. This is exactly the kind of dress I find myself wearing over and over again!

One of the things I appreciate most is the length. I never have to think about it. I can sit comfortably, chase the dogs around the yard, or spend the day photographing without feeling like I’m constantly adjusting my clothes. My life is so busy and this dress fits my lifestyle perfectly.

These photos were actually taken at the very end of a long photography day. I had spent the morning and early afternoon setting a gorgeous table that I’ll be sharing later this week. By the time I changed into this outfit, we’d already photographed the tablescape, filled with local flowers and food, along with several other looks. It had rained just before my photographer arrived, and the humidity in the air was so thick you could have sliced it. My hair had completely gone bonkers, the mosquitoes were having a field day, and Amos decided it was the perfect time to steal the show. Throw another doodle into the mix, and things became wonderfully chaotic.

Ironically, these pictures ended up being some of my favorites of the day. As the sun sank a little lower and the twinkling lights began to glow, everything felt a bit more relaxed and effortless…even if it hadn’t been just a few minutes before.

The dress itself didn’t need much styling (I love a one and done on a hot day). I paired it with my Larroudé wedges (sold out but similar here), everyday Vahan jewelry, and a Veronica Beard woven tote. I absolutely love this bag. The navy-and-white weave complements the print of the dress and it’s roomy enough for everything I need during the day while still looking polished. Together they create an outfit that feels classic, relaxed and put together.

I recently gave the gazebo a little refresh with a few new pillows (some are from Amazon and some from Home Goods) and I love how they tie everything together with our vintage Palm Beach table. When I’m going to be outside, eating or working, I love to bring out some fresh flowers and they’re beautiful in this blue-and-white ginger jar that matches the pillows. This is one of my favorite places to spend time, and the little details make it feel special.

I thought I’d include a closer look at a few of the details that made this little corner feel especially pretty that day. The blue-and-white pillows, fresh flowers, ginger jar, and my favorite wine glasses that I buy in bulk…all work together to create a space that’s relaxed, welcoming, and very much us.
