How to Style Scarves for Fall 2026

01

I’ve never considered myself much of a scarf person, but lately, I’ve been buying a few and thinking of different ways to incorporate them into my wardrobe and how to style scarves for fall. A scarf can add personality, color and pattern to even the most basic look, taking it from ordinary to really interesting.

This season, scarves are definitely having a moment, and I love that they’re being treated almost like jewelry…that little finishing touch that can completely change an outfit. And there are so many new and different ways to wear them. Tie one around your waist with jeans, trousers or a dress, loop one through a belt loop like I did here, wear one as an actual belt, tie one around your head or drape an oversized scarf around your shoulders…if it’s long enough, you can even belt the scarf. I also love to wear a scarf tied to my bag. The options really are endless.

As I was putting this post together, I realized I’ve worn scarves more than I thought over the past several years! Today, I’m sharing a few of those pictures, along with some images I’ve found on Pinterest that have inspired me and will hopefully give you a few ideas for easily incorporating a scarf into your wardrobe this fall.

This outfit features a long thin silk scarf that easily ties around the neck. It’s also a great one for tying on a bag.

This is my one and only Hermès scarf that I’ve paired with a western jacket from…of all places – Amazon (similar here)! I love a good high/low moment!

The scarf above is from Benaar LA (similar here) and goes with so many things! They have a great selection of scarves at really good price points!

I picked up this scarf while on vacation at Bald Head. It’s small and perfect for tying through a belt loop. I will say that the longer the scarf is, the more dramatic it looks so it all depends on the look your going for!

This is what I would call a blanket scarf (similar here) and it’s perfect for adding an extra layer of warmth over a sweater or coat.

I got this scarf last season from The Great and it’s still available! It also works as a sarong and comes in several other colors!

My Hermès scarf (similar) styled with a trench for spring. This look would also be perfect going into fall with a simple change of shoes.

The same scarf from The Great styled over a Veronica Beard blazer.

I’m including a boutique below filled with scarves, sweaters, jeans and more…all things that go well with scarves. I’ve also found a few vintage ones from The Real Real!

I think the thing I love most about adding scarves to my wardrobe is that they give me another way to play with clothes I already own. There really aren’t any rules…tie one somewhere unexpected, mix in a little color or pattern and see what happens. Sometimes it’s the smallest detail that makes you look at an old favorite in a completely new way. And who knows…maybe I’m becoming a scarf person after all!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and found it helpful! Thanks so much for reading today!

~XOXO Suzanne
