Styling a Sweater Dress

Do you ever wake up with a plan only to have your whole day fall apart right before your eyes? Well…that was yesterday for me but everything happens for a reason so I just had to go with it! I woke up really early to finish up last minute decorating details and took a quick shower. I didn’t check my phone for a couple of hours, but when I did, I realized my assistant had texted that she couldn’t come (insert furious face here). She really did put a kink in my day so…I proceded to get on with things, the point being here is that my holiday house tour did not happen yesterday.

Baldy (and my friend Kim) to the rescue…as soon as I finish getting this post together, he is going to help me out and then Kim is coming to do some video. It’s just hard to do something like that by yourself so thank goodness for husbands and friends!

I wanted to share this fabulous sweater dress from Anine Bing with you today. The minute I saw it, I knew I had to have it! I actually ordered it to wear in New York, but it didn’t come in time but it’s a dress I’m sure I’ll wear for years to come. It’s made from the softest cashmere, it’s just fitted enough, the length is perfect for me…AND it has shoulder pads!

I styled it with a pair of cute cowboy boots, fishnet tights and my leopard tote (this inexpensive one from Mango is fabulous and love this one from Tory Burch). I purchased this tote many years ago at Henri Bendel and it’s a favorite to this day…such a good leopard print and it holds the kitchen sink.

I really love the fishnet stockings with the dress because they add a little interest, but if the weather is really cold, I’ll choose warmer ones, or a long coat. This outfit would really go anywhere and could be dressed up a little with a simple change of bags.

Keep scrolling for a boutique including everything in this post and more favorites from Anine Bing, J. Crew (everything is on sale) and Nordstrom.

My post is kind of short today because I have to hurry and be ready for Baldy to take a few pictures! After that, I’m actually going Christmas shopping and I’m so excited! I’ve waited a little too long on a few things and can’t order them. Christmas shopping is so festive and I love the stores all decorated! I’ll share on my Instagram stories so be sure to check them out!

Thanks so much for reading…what do you think of this look?

~XOXO Suzanne
