New York, New York
It was a whirlwind trip to New York for Rebecca and me! We left on Sunday and arrived to a very rainy city. We made the best of our time, but things didn’t go exactly as planned because the rain made navigating the city a little more difficult than we had hoped! New York is a fabulous city in most any kind of weather so we definitely did some shopping, ate amazing meals and went to several NYFW events including our first fashion show.
We stayed at the Westin Grand Central Station and the photo ops at Grand Central Station were just too good to pass up! It took a little while to get this picture because there were so many people!
Our first stop after dropping our bags and putting on jackets was lunch (of course). We ate at a little Italian place across the street and I don’t remember the name but the food was delicious! We tried to have a really light lunch, but it’s hard when you have a plate of burrata in front of you!
I have always said that I want my ashes scattered on 2nd floor shoes at Bergdorf Goodman. It is heaven on earth for a shoe queen! These See By Chloe shoes are on my list for fall!
No trip to New York is complete without a little shopping! The windows, as usual were amazing! Ralph Lauren is always one of my favorites and with this year being the brands 50th anniversary, they were more fabulous than usual!
Maison Ladurée has announced an exciting collaboration with footwear favorite and accessories angel Charlotte Olympia. In a nod to British high tea, the collaboration consists of fragrant loose leaf tea and delicious chocolate macaroons infused with Earl Grey tea in beautiful boxes designed by Charlotte Olympia herself. Needless to say, we ate far too many macaroons!
I just love all of the beautiful spaces in New York and I always leave with ideas of things to incorporate into our home and garden!
Bergdorf Goodman is my favorite place to stop for an afternoon pick-me-up! I love these chairs, designed by Kelly Wearstler!
One of the most exciting and educational things that Rebecca and had the privilege of doing was going to an event hosted by Like.to.Know.it. They have come out with a new book called Stories From The Influencer Next Door. Stories from the Influencer Next Door goes behind the screen with over 100 of the world's top global influencers sharing how they started their entrepreneurial businesses and achieved their path to influence. The event included a panel of bloggers who talked about everything to do with blogging! I learned so much and was a little star struck by Mary Lawless Lee of the blog Happily Grey!
One of my favorite places to sit and eat lunch is Match 65 Brasserie. It was a nice place to sit outside (the rain finally stopped) and people watch.

I definitely learned so much about Fashion Week this year. The most important thing is that…if you want to go to shows, you have to start pitching and emailing brands early on! We did get invited to one show and I can see how going to 3 or 4 a day could be totally exhausting. That is, however, what I would like to do next year! It was very exciting to see how everyone was dressed and even though the designer Dan Liu was one I had never heard of, we had a great time. The best part was probably the people watching.
I absolutely fell in love with Grand Central Oyster Bar. It was the first time I had ever been there and the architecture is amazing! “The Oyster Bar first opened its doors in 1913 on the lower level of Grand Central Terminal. Woodrow Wilson was President, the United States was on the threshold of World War I, and Prohibition was just six years away. New York City was slowly emerging as a literary and artistic center, and little “salons” that attracted writers and artists and dilettantes were starting to spring up in Greenwich Village and in other parts of the city. The resplendent new Grand Central Terminal opened its doors that year too, on the site of what formerly had been the old and rundown train depot. People flocked to see the new terminal that was then as now considered an engineering marvel.”
All in all, Rebecca and I had a wonderful trip to New York, however, our time was cut short by a day because of hurricane Florence. I was sad to fly home on Wednesday, but I knew it was the best thing!
