How to Wear Wide Leg Cropped Pants + The Odells

01

Hope you’re ready to throw it back to the 1970s when you reach for your denim this spring, because wide-leg styles are everywhere. Channel your inner Farrah Fawcett when you’re getting dressed in the morning and wear some high-waist, wide leg jeans for a flattering trendy look! Whether you pair yours with a simple white T-shirt, layer on a loose cropped top, or keep it classic with a tank and blazer, you’ll reach for these jeans over and over again. Here are a few tips on how to wear them for spring.

Hem lengths can vary from a shorter culotte style to a longer cropped pant. The most flattering length is about an inch above the ankle.

If your pants are really voluminous, wear a tighter fitting top to keep you from looking heavy and frumpy. The one’s I’m wearing here are more fitted through the waist and top of the leg, so a short but not so fitted top works well. You could also do a semi tuck to nip the waist a bit.

Stick to dark neutral colors such as blue, gray, taupe, or black if you’re nervous about looking bottom heavy. These colors are more slimming.

Wear a tee shirt and a jacket with wide leg cropped pants. It balances out your hips by making your shoulders look wider.

Al little bit of height goes a long way to elevate this look and make you appear taller and slimmer. So unless you’re tall enough to pull it off, wear a bit of a heel with this style pants.

Also, just a word about the top I’m wearing, it’s from a company that I’ve just discovered called The Odells. They have so many cute pieces for summer that are relaxed and perfect for throwing on for a casual look. Be sure to scroll through below for some of my favorites!

Somehow, it’s Wednesday and I’m not sure how that happened! I hope you have some time today to enjoy the beautiful weather….and I would absolutely, completely, totally LOVE if you would leave me a comment and let me know what you think of this post and others! I really want to put out content that you like and are interested in reading and it’s helpful if you let me know! Thank you so much for reading today!

Wow! You are just rocking these looks! I love them! Thank you so much! I am going to have to go with a super sturdy practical shoe for awhile, like a really good sneaker or something with a ton of support… recovering from a broken ankle. Is there a way to use a shoe like that with this style?

    • crazyblonde says:

Hi Amy! Thank you so much for reading! I think you could probably find a lower block heel that would work with this style of pants. I’m just so short that I always go for the high heel! I am sooo sorry to hear that you broke your ankle! I hope you’re healing quickly! Have a great day!

I loved it all, specially your necklace ..!

    • crazyblonde says:

Thanks so much Eva! I tried to find the exact one to link, but the earrings that I linked are the same company and go with the necklace! Thank you so much for your comment! Have a great day!

Hi Karen! Thank you so much for reading! I’m loving this style right now and trying to embrace the high waisted style. It’s a little difficult for a short waisted girl sometimes! You’re so sweet to comment!

Love the look! I am a big fan of 70’s coolness. 👌🏼 As Rid Stewart would say, You wear it well.

You always manage to find the cutest jeans! Last weekend I think I tried every style they had at Nordstroms and compaletey struck out! Love this look, definitely want a pair!

    • crazyblonde says:

Hi Nina! I’m sorry you’re not having luck with jeans. It’s so exhausting to go and try on pair after pair and especially when none of them are working. I’ve been playing with different ways to style them and planning on wearing them a lot! Thanks for reading!

  6. Karen Lien says:

Just love this look and was so unsure on what to wear with them! Great styling!

    • crazyblonde says:

      Hi Karen!

I love this style and really have just figured out what looks best with them on me. Everyone’s body is different and I’m so short waisted. If I don’t tuck anything in, I can pull it off. Thanks so much for reading today!

  7. HIlda Smith says:

Love how you have styled the jeans. I have not bought any yet, but you have inspired me. And I love the top too. And I would definitely need the height in the wedges!

  8. As a short person (5’2"), I find it hard to wear this style of pant as I always look cutoff. I’m going to try again after reading your tips…wish me luck!

      Hi Pamela

I’m short too and short waisted! Let me know how it goes! I think this style is so cute and perfect for spring/summer. Thanks so much for reading!

    Hi Suzanne,
This post is so helpful, because I actually just got done cropping a pair of old wide-leg Gap jeans. They’re a little loose on me now but I think they look kinda of cute with a belt and a closer fitting tee. I just ordered some chunky sandals and those will look good with them, too.
I hope you’ll share your closet with us someday (are you finished with it?) because I’d love to see how you store all your clothes! You must have so much! I have a huge walk-in closet, but usually wind up wearing the same pieces over and over. Trying to break that habit and these types of posts help me!
    Xo Heidi

    Hi Suzanne:

You can wear anything and look adorable!! Like those wide legged pants would not look good on me, imo, but you make them look amazing! Love the striped top.

Love your post , I liked the idea of wider leg jeans and a more fitted top

    • Suzanne Smith says:

Yes it’s a look that works for me especially if the pants are high waisted! Thanks so much for reading!

      Hi Usch

Thank you! I think it’s a good look, especially on shorter women. I’m so glad you found it helpful!
