Happy Weekend! It’s raining in North Carolina and today would be the ideal day for a closet clean out! Before you start, grab a cup of coffee and watch my videos on Spring Wardrobe Essentials. You’ll learn which pieces are essential to your wardrobe and hopefully that will make your closet cleanout easier. Keep scrolling for a few tips on how to organize your closet and for my favorite picks for essentials! Here’s to fresh starts and being organized!
Color Coordinate and Section Everything – Separate items into categories, then color-coordinate from lightest to darkest with color groupings.
Organize Your Drawers – Separate long sleeve and short sleeve tops that you don’t hang and again, color-coordinate from lightest to darkest.
Take Inventory – Put on some music you love and work for a solid hour! Look at anything that you haven’t worn in the past year and make piles of things to donate or sell. Clear out anything that doesn’t serve you or that doesn’t make you feel your best self.
Separate Accessories – Create a special drawer, basket or bin for socks, workout gear, lingerie, etc. Hang hooks for your favorite scarves and long necklaces.
Clean As You Go – Make your closet a place you like to be by adding satches of lavender, or your favorite scent (I love this one from Jo Malone for summer).
Move Out Off Season Clothes If Possible – this way it’s protected and you can see the things you will actually be wearing.
Make Beautiful Displays With Your Jewelry and Accessories – Pretty jewelry stands and hooks make your closet look nice and also make accessorizing your outfits easier!
Invest In Good Hangers – I like Joy Mangano Huggable Hangers – they save space and hold everything from coats to dresses.
Cluttered closets weigh you down and create stagnant energy which can make you feel overwhelmed every time you get dressed. Keep the energy fresh and moving…this is the season for new beginnings and fresh starts!

Your video was the first thing I saw this morning. Had so much fun watching over a cup of coffee. What I love about you is how you’ve defined your "look" and have a very solid style that gives you an ease and confident presence. It was pretty cool to watch because, as a brunette, my core pieces are almost the opposite: I tend to move into black and chocolate brown, right now as I’m carrying more pounds in my lower half than I had before menopause, plus in Minnesota, we seem to savor white and khaki for the heart of summer…the tiny slice of weather that doesn’t involve snow, haha. But anyway, I do use white, brown, tan and black tees often. I like dusters, blazers and spring sweaters, and will also purchase an item in other colors if I love it. I have an affinity toward small polka dots if the piece is otherwise classic, and even some florals if the piece is tailored and the print muted. I can’t stand gaudy flowered pieces; thankfully, I have a trained eye and am discerning on that type of pattern and what works for me. My passion is animal prints. Because I’m tall and dark haired, they work, just as jewel tones do. That has been a signature for me if I think back over the years. You and I both gravitate toward the same styles of jeans and pants, however. ~~ Your video is a beautiful example of how to define personal style and stick with it, adding specialty pieces as they fit. I got excited about that yellow handbag; I love using lemon or various hues of pink to wake up neutrals. One year, I used green…a vibrant spring green that was nearly lime in shading. Fun! Thanks for the style inspiration. The biggest thing I get from your videos is how to create your own statement by using wardrobe. The other day I was out shopping and saw white booties; immediately you came to mind! I love that…
I loved reading what you just wrote because that was my point! Figure out what works for your core wardrobe and build out from there! I guess I really didn’t say it, but evidently the point came across! I think about you often and have missed talking to you! I hope you’re doing well and having a great weekend! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Means the world to me!
Terrific videos. You did a terrific job displaying the spring essentials and then showing how to mix them up to create interesting and fun combos.
Thank you so much for watching Rebecca!
Love the video!
Where do you recommend purchasing a good white t-shirt that is not see-through?
