Lately, I’ve been very focused on shopping my closet and putting together pieces in ways I’ve never worn them. As a lifestyle blogger with a focus on fashion, I’m finding a need to add a few new pieces here and there to keep things fresh, but I’m also trying to create a really great capsule wardrobe with basic pieces that can be easily updated with the addition of a bag, scarf or a new pair of shoes.
The outfit I’m wearing here is made up of basics…some are investment pieces and some were very inexpensive.
The Plaid Blazer
A blazer is a non negotiable closet essential. The one I’m wearing is no longer available (similar here) but this style and weight is great for all seasons. I had forgotten I had it and discovered it with the tags still on when organizing my closet. I’m definitely putting it to good use for Spring as it will also be fabulous with jeans and white booties! I’m wearing a short sleeve white tee underneath by Michael Stars.
The Trousers
The trousers are by Rag and Bone and are the best trouser I’ve found for my body type. They zip in the back leaving a flat front which is flattering. The length is perfect and they are fitted but not like leggings. I am such a jeans girl, but there are times when I need something other than jeans and these are my go-to’s.
Red Valentino Rockstuds
My red Valentino shoes (these are very similar) were purchased at least 10 years ago and I’ve tried to take really good care of them because they will never go out of style AND I really love them. They were an investment but if you count price per wear…I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth!
THE STRUCTURED LADY BAG
Structured, lady bags are still trending for 2020 and can give a stuffy suit or blazer an instant dose of cool or dress up a jeans and sweater combo! The one I’m carrying here is by Boyy (similar here) adds another pop of color and a little fun to an otherwise basic outfit!
I love a huge pair of sunglasses and these by Quay are very affordable and will instantly update your look!

What a gorgeous outfit and I love your red Red Valentinos! I have a black and white plaid blazer and you’ve definitely inspired me to try wearing it a few different ways. I love the idea of wearing it with white booties! Those pants are an amazing fit on you and I love that they’re actually pants. I never feel right wearing leggings without a longer top over it. Big sunglasses. They look amazing on you and I may just have to try a pair on. I’ve stayed away from the big ones in the past but those just look so good….

I’m finding this blazer so easy to wear with many different things! I feel the same way about leggings but you’ll love these pants. As for the sunglasses, the ones I’ve linked are from Amazon and are very inexpensive, so that would be a good way to test out the big ones! Happy Sunday!
