Very Random and Interesting Things of Note for The First Week of May

“What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.” ~ Charles Bukowski

GOOD MORNING…I hope you’re all having a fabulous Saturday so far! Today’s post is very random, but there are so many inspiring things that I want to share from interesting videos to new Instagram accounts to shoes to seasonal recipes!…and the list goes on!

It’s so important during these odd times to take the time to get inspired, recharge and relax a little! I hope you get to do all of these things over this Mother’s Day weekend! Enjoy and have a beautiful day!

Seasonal Recipes

I stumbled on a new website called Delicious that has the most delicious sounding recipes and beautiful photography. Delicious is a digital magazine based in the UK, so the ingredients are measured in metrics, but these two recipes are very easily converted and I wanted to include them because they’re seasonal and I’m hungry for something different!

Beautiful Instagram Account – The Pretty Cities

I really enjoy getting up early in the morning! Have you ever noticed how loud the morning is outside in nature? Everything is waking up and it’s quiet and very noisy all at the same time, if you know what I mean. In my opinion, it’s the best time to meditate, before my mind becomes cluttered with thoughts of my to-do list. After I finish my meditation, I sit and scroll through my Instagram account and this morning, I literally went down the rabbit hole looking at a new account called @theprettycities. I saved so many pictures and it made me want to travel so very badly!

Perfect Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift

Have you heard about Masterclass? It’s like a school for anything with only the best teachers…Kelly Wearstler teaching design, Gordon Ramsey teaching cooking, Steve Martin teaching comedy! I recently purchased it and when you buy now, you can share your membership! I’ve been listening nonstop and love it! This would make an amazing Mother’s Day gift for absolutely anyone!

A Little Quarantine Inspiration

If you’re looking for some quarantine inspiration…you’ll love this video from SGN (Some Good News)! We all could use a little good news right about now!

Shoes, Bags, Outfit Inspiration

This pink version of the Chloe Slide Sandal is perfect for spring! I’m finding that pink is surprisingly neutral…. I purchased the black and cream version of this sandal last year and it’s been very popular on Instagram (I’m wearing them in the image below)!

Interesting Article…

I’ve been a book collector for many years! Beautiful books on interior design, fashion, food…almost any subject are irresistible to me! I love to give books and I love to receive books as gifts! I’ve always thought that when you go into a person’s home and look at their book collection, you can tell a lot about who they are. It’s interesting when you peruse my bookshelves, you can see how my interests have evolved over the years, from my time as a vegetarian and young mother to now and my growing interest in fashion and interiors. As more and more interviews with famous people are being conducted in their libraries and offices because of COVID19, the backdrop is their bookshelves. I found this article about “What do Famous People’s Bookshelves Reveal” extremely interesting!

On that note, I have a couple of new books that were birthday gifts that I’m excited to dive into! My daughters both gave me books, Sarah – Louis Vuitton, The Birth of Modern Luxury and Rebecca – What’s Gaby Cooking, Eat What You Want!…both very different books and I love them!

I just bought an air fryer yesterday. My husband is vegetarian (the rest of us are not) and I have been wondering what I could make for all of us. Those fritters will be perfect! Thanks for sharing!

      Hi Debbie

I can’t wait to hear how they turn out! I’ve been wanting an air fryer! I was a vegetarian for 18 years and sometimes I think I’ll go back to it because it seemed easier, but then there’s the bacon…
      Have a wonderful day today!

  3. Heidi says:

    Hi Suzanne,
I feel the same way about mornings! I’m usually the first one up around here and I love the solitude and the outdoor morning sounds. Went on a walk early today and enjoyed all the blooming gardens, I posted flower after flower on my insta stories!
That book is perfectly named, those recipes do look delicious! I will try to replicate!
Hope you have a great Mother’s Day!
    XO Heidi

      Hi Heidi

Mornings are my time to get inspired and plan my day…figure out goals for the day, etc. I am so grateful that I have time and don’t have to hop directly into my day…
I hope you have a great Mother’s Day as well and have some time to do exactly what you want to do!
