A tablescape, a fabulous outfit, my courtyard and my pups…

This post all came together yesterday! Here’s what happened…
A couple of days ago, I was watering my flowers in our courtyard and I picked up a ceramic pot from the middle of the table that was a bit heavy. My hands were wet and as I lifted it, it slipped and fell to the ground…of course, it broke and I was very annoyed with myself. The plant, along with the fabulous pot had been a birthday gift and it was so pretty sitting on the table. I thought the pot came from Homegoods and confirmed it with her, so off to Homegoods I went. Well you know how it goes with Homegoods…you go in to buy one thing and come out with seventeen things. Actually, the pot was on the first aisle I went down and if I had just gone home then, well, this post wouldn’t have happened.
As I walked the aisles, I picked up my favorite potato chips that I can only find at Homegoods (or Amazon), some hand soap and bar soap, a flat round basket that will be so perfect for serving drinks on this summer because the bottom is truly flat and not woven, and then I went down the aisle with placemats, etc. I have been needing cushions for my outdoor table, but was planning to have my decorator make them. I knew that would take several weeks and I hadn’t even made the template for the cushions to give to her. As luck would have it, there were the perfect cushions for my chairs right there at Homegoods and since I love a bit of instant gratification, I nabbed them and put them into my cart. I continued to walk down that same aisle and saw a table runner that I just knew would be amazing on my table (and it is!)! Since my cart was very full at that point, I decided to head to the cash register! I was so pleased with myself.
When I got home, the dogs and I (haha), took off the tags and tied the cushions to the chairs and I felt inspired to create a whole tablescape around my freshly planted new pot and the runner. I added white plates and green linen napkins that matched perfectly, wine glasses, hydrangeas in individual small vases that I have collected over the years and a handmade pitcher that was also the perfect green (love love this one). It all looked so pretty and I truly wished that I had a lovely dinner cooked so that I could invite a few people over to eat, but…I did not! At least, I have a plan for the table next time I decide to have a dinner party! This time of the year, it’s so pleasant to eat outside!
But…the story isn’t over. When I got back inside from setting the table, I noticed that a few new boxes were on the front porch! When I opened them, I found a pair of Maren pants from Spartina 449, and a pair of absolutely fabulous gold sandals from Tory Burch. I knew the pants would be so pretty with the table and doesn’t your outfit always need to match your table!? The shoes added just the right touch to the look and the older blouse was ideal. And…the best part was that my photographer was coming and she would capture the whole thing! Some days, the stars align and everything works out!

I am sad about one thing though…
In the fall, we hired someone to prune and he cut the hydrangeas that are on the side of the house back too far and they haven’t bloomed yet…and, I don’t see one single bloom forming. I check everyday in the hopes that I’ll see something but nothing yet. Usually by this time of the year, they are putting on quite a show! Hopefully, they will bloom soon and I’ll be able to cut vase after vase and bring them in the house.

And a word about the Maren pants! I have these pants in so many colors and they are amazing! They are so classic, the fit is perfection…they sit a little lower on the waist, and they are so comfortable. I love to pattern mix and they lend themselves beautifully to pattern mixing! You will not regret getting these pants! I just keep adding to my collection!

These barely there gold sandals are so pretty and I love the heel height as well as the shape of the heel!

As always, I’m wearing my VAHAN jewelry…take a look at my favorites here!
I have a Dry Farm Wine subscription and every month I receive 6 bottles of rosé! I love a good French rosé and the one pictured above has been one of my favorites! It’s light and dry and perfect for summer! The wines from Dry Farm wines are all European wines and grown on “dry farms” with no irrigation making them extremely environmentally friendly and they also have no harmful additives. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that many wines, even just one glass, give me a headache and these do not…probably because of the way the wine is made and the lack of additives!

As I write this post, I’m sitting outside looking at my beautiful flowers in the courtyard and feeling very blessed! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post as I’m sharing something very special to me! We’ve worked so hard on our outdoor area and it’s become a haven for me.
Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Your trip to Homegoods story today was hilarious. I’m sorry your vase broke but you were fortunate to replace it! Your outdoor area is so pretty too. I like the Maren pants and new sandals. It’s a nice change from Denim going into Summer.
Hi Aimee
Going to Homegoods is always an adventure and I always leave with way too much but it’s fun! We have been working hard on our outdoor area and it’s coming along…always more plans though!
I absolutely love the Maren pants…they fit so well and are great for so many occasions and I agree about changing up the denim for summer! It’s really getting hot here but I’m not complaining!
Thanks so much for reading today!
