I am a big fan of a GOOD Caesar Salad but they’re hard to find. So many have chunky croutons that seem to dominate the flavor, they’re over dressed and the cheese isn’t true Parmagiano Reggiano which makes a huge difference! This salad has all of the traditional elements minus one…anchovies and egg! Those two things are just aren’t my favorites and I honestly don’t think their flavor gives the salad anything extra! The dressing I used here is made with olive oil, mayo, mustard, Worchestershire sauce, lemon juice, finely grated Parmesan, salt, pepper and garlic. It is very delicious!
The other non traditional element of this salad is that I used toasted panko breadcrumbs that were sautéed with butter and crispy pancetta. These are the same breadcrumbs I use on my Lemony Garlic Pasta with the addition of pancetta, and they are so addictive that you might want to make extra to nibble on! I also stole the idea of using avocado from a California Caesar which only added more creaminess and flavor! I hope you love this salad as much as I do…keep scrolling for the recipe!
Doesn’t this salad look mouthwatering…I wish you could taste the picture! It’s so much easier to make than a traditional Caesar salad!
I have been wanting a Caesar Salad bowl for quite some time and my daughters gave me this gorgeous one for my birthday! I served the salad on dinner plates from Haand Ceramics and the salad looks so pretty on a white plate!

I started using this dressing many years ago and we love it. I also use toasted, salted pecans instead of croutons. I got this idea from a restaurant in New Orleans many years ago, too.
Hi Brenda
The dressing is delicious and I absolutely love the idea of using pecans! I do live in the South and we really love our pecans! I think it would even be good to make them a little spicy! New Orleans does have some of the best food on the planet! Thanks so much for sharing your pecan idea and for your comment!
This is going to be another go to in our kitchen! Thanks Suzanne!!
Hi Jeana
I’m so happy to hear that! I’m 100% positive you’ll love it…it really was so delicious! Thanks so much for reading!
Wow Suzanne! You nailed it- no eggs or anchovies yet has all the Zing of caesar!! Thankyou for this new go to recipe🤩
Hi Kim
I’m so glad you like the recipe! We didn’t miss the eggs or anchovies one bit and loved this salad!
My family loved it! I will add to the rotation!
I’m curious about your beautiful wooden bowl. I clicked on your bowl links but didn’t think I recognized your bowl. So wondering where your daughters purchased your bowl?
Hi Jill
Thanks for asking! My daughters purchased from a boutique in Richmond, Virginia called Creme de la Creme! They have the most beautiful things!
Thank you so much for this beautiful salad recipe and video! I was curious about the amount of Worcestershire sauce that was added in to the dressing as mentioned in the video. I didn’t see that added to the written recipe, and I wanted to be sure not to add too little or too much. I love the thought of adding it as it does contain anchovies with is proper for a Caesar dressing.
Thank you again for the recipe and video.
Sincerely,
Lisa Ray
Hi Lisa
Thank you so much for letting me know about the Worcestershire sauce! I will definitely edit the recipe and add it. Use a tablespoon or just a bit more…taste as you go!
Let me know if you make the salad…this is a favorite recipe of mine!
Delicious salad. Nice work. Don’t forget about the Worcestershire sauce. It was shown in the video but inadvertently left off from the written recipe. Thank you for sharing. Five out of five stars!!
Hi Tia
Thank you so much for letting me know about the Worcestershire sauce! I’ll definitely go in and fix that!
I’m very happy you liked the salad…I think the panko breadcrumbs make it fabulous!
Looks great! How much Worcestershire should be used?
This salad was an amazing hit! Wow….thank you so much! I did the toasted panko along with chopped pecans (as someone else recommended). Everyone loved it! Seriously, the dressing is the key! Will be making this regularly….thank you so much!
Hi Mary
I’m so happy you loved the salad and the pecans sound like a fabulous addition that I’ll be trying! I really appreciate your comment so much! Thank you thank you!
I don’t usually comment on food blogs after I cook the recipe but I had to for this recipe.. my husband and I were “mmmmm”-ing the whole time. DELICIOUS! I did add 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce that’s not listed here, but is listed in the Pinterest video. We loved the crunch from the panko and the tang of the dressing.. Yum! Adding to our regular rotation.
Hi Destiny
Thank you so much for commenting and I’m so glad you tried the salad! It’s our favorite way to eat a Caesar Salad! I’m kind of addicted to adding panko to everything (trying Burrata with panko in the air fryer this weekend)…I too love the crunch!
This really makes me so happy! Let me know what else you’ve tried!
This is nothing short of fabulous!!!! Thank you Suzanne 🙂
Hi Nan
Thank you so much! It really is delicious and one of my favorites!
Tried this for Easter and it was a thumbs up from all. I wished I had made more dressing as the breadcrumbs and Parmesan soaked up a lot. avocado was a bit of an overkill and will omit it next time. Overall very tasty
Hi Bunny
I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe and that you will tweak it to make it your own!
As a person with celiac disease I don’t make Caesar salads because of the croutons. I always have gluten free Panko in my pantry so this recipe is a blessing. No one misses those hard croutons and the dressing is delicious! Thank you so much! I also double the dressing.
