Getting fit and organized are always the themes for January after the excess of the holidays! I will admit that I really fell off the exercise train over the holidays and I’m ready to get back to the gym! I did manage to still take my supplements (these supplements are my daily tried and true) and do a few pushups at home, but there’s nothing like a good workout to make you feel accomplished and ready for the day! It’s also nice to refresh your workout clothes every now and then because they certainly do take a beating when you’re wearing them often!
I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite Amazon finds below that should help you with your fresh start for January. Also, keep scrolling to the end because I’ve started a whole conversation about organization and ironing…of all things! And…I’m also linking my YouTube workout videos!

If you’re like me and let the busyness of the holidays interrupt your workout, I hope you get back to it! My main concern as I’m getting older is to keep my bones healthy and strong and keep some muscle definition…that’s what motivates me at this point in my life! I have recorded several workout videos on my YouTube channel that you may enjoy and my plan is to do more of these types of videos as well as expand my cooking and travel videos on YouTube in 2025! I better get busy!
And on another note…I finally got my Christmas trees down yesterday and it took a while but it feels good! I took the time to clean out ornaments that I no longer wanted and actually cleaned the inside of my storage bins. Everything is in the basement now waiting to be put away. I still have some purging to do down there (and everywhere), but I’m really feeling the need to get organized probably because our living situation is a bit chaotic right now! Speaking of organization, I ordered this makeup brush organizer to help keep my things in order since I’m cramped in such a small bathroom at the moment!
On a complete other note…I’m wondering if anyone irons their sheets? I have been ironing mine for years and recently saw a very cool rotary ironing board from Miele that was very pricey and also found this one on Amazon…wondering about the difference in quality. It would be so nice to have a gadget to make ironing easier!
I’ve been thinking about changing the way I make our beds and only using a fitted sheet with a comforter (duvet) on top. Seems like that might make things easier with the one exception of putting on the comforter cover. I know this is a more popular way to make a bed in Europe and just wondering if anyone has thoughts?
Hopefully, next week, I’ll be able to share some pictures of the bathroom reno and also some of my picks for tile, cabinets, etc.!
I hope your year is off to a good start and that you’re feeling energized!
As always…thank you so much for reading and let me know what’s on your mind!
~XOXO Suzanne

Hi Suzanne. Here in the UK I always use a sheet under the duvet (super king size) that way I launder the sheets once a week but only do the duvet cover once every 3. I find the top sheet easier to iron if I fold it width wise into a strip about 2ft 6 and iron it folded, if that makes sense!! That way the top of the sheet that is folded back over the duvet is perfect and the rest is OK- but not on show! Ironing the duvet cover is a complete nightmare and best left to someone else!!
Hi Linda
Yes I do iron my sheet folded…I only iron the top sheet and not the fitted sheet. I agree that ironing the duvet cover is a nightmare but not as much of a nightmare as putting it back on! I’m glad to know that other people are as picky about their sheets! I am looking into the Meile press machine…it’s an investment but maybe worth it!
Thank you for reading and for your comment! Happy New Year!
LOL! I am glad to see that I am not the only one who irons bedsheets! But I just press the top hem that is seen. I like having a top sheet on my bed. It just feels more comfortable to me.
I have had to postpone our Christmas holiday because of sickness so many times that I am beginning to think my tree will be up until February! Fingers crossed that the family can come next weekend.
Keep encouraging us all to exercise and be a better self Suzanne!
Hi Harriet
I tried not ironing the sheets when we moved into our daughter’s room because of our renovations and I absolutely could not sleep on an unironed sheet! It drove me crazy! I’ve actually gotten pretty quick with the sheet ironing and I don’t mind it so much! I have found a lady that helps me sometimes when I get behind. She just picks up the laundry basket and brings everything back ironed and it’s so nice!
I am so sorry to hear that you’ve been sick…but Christmas in February might be fun. I do hope you get to celebrate soon!
I always love your comments! Thank you so much for reading and Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I’m sad to report that I do iron our sheets. Just the top section that can be seen, especially the top hem area that gets so badly wrinkled in the wash/dry process, and pillow cases. Changing a duvet is a nightmare, so I win’t give up the top sheet. It’s easier to wash and put in … aside from the ironing, of course. xo
Hi Juliet
I know what you mean by being sad to report…but, it makes for a better nights sleep! If I had been asked to guess if you ironed sheets, I’d have guessed yes haha! Pillow cases are also a must iron!
Changing the duvet is a nightmare…I wonder if there’s a trick we’re missing. I do use a safety pin in the corners when I start and that helps a little!
Oh well…the things we do!
