Gorgeous Green

I am suddenly drawn to green like never before! I’ve always loved lush green landscapes and when my hostas start to pop up each spring, I get a little thrill! I also have two rooms that I’ve decorated with predominately green in our home, but I’ve never worn much green!

Green is a huge trending color right now, so it’s a good time to start experimenting and what better way than with a two piece set that is so easy breezy and cool!? I found this skirt and top by Velvet at a little boutique called Island Passage at Bald Head Island and was immediately drawn to it! I asked them to hold it for me because I was kind of sweaty from the pool and then it was several days before I got back to try it on…I figured they had put it back out and that it had been sold. However, that was not the case…for some reason they were still holding it for me and when I tried it on, I knew it was meant to be!

I couldn’t wait to wear it and decided to photograph it on the beach! It was the most glorious day (even though it was crazy hot)! We went out at around 5 pm which is usually not the best time for taking pictures, but the sun was so beautiful and it all just worked out!

This stretch of beach (West Beach) is my favorite, even though it’s not great for swimming. I just love it because it’s never crowded and the homes along the beach are fabulous! West Beach is the section at Bald Head Island where the Cape Fear River meets the ocean so the water is rough and briny, but it’s just so nice to sit and read and watch the barges come and go.

By this point in our trip, I had totally given up on my hair because it was so humid so I wore this hat from Eric Javits nonstop! It’s one of the few hats that looks good on me because I have a small head. This one fits me perfectly and covers my crazy hair. I thought the earrings added a little style and my vintage Gucci sunglasses look great with nearly everything. I call them vintage because I’ve had them for so many years and still wear them and love them! I think they have a very Palm Beach feel!

I think shoe options with this outfit could range from cute flats to platform heels depending on where you’re going. I’m packing this set for a trip I’m taking to Rhode Island on the 18th and I’ll probably pack the heels…just in case I want to get a little more dressed up. This outfit is so comfortable that it would be perfect for a casual day of shopping and lunch, but would be just as cute for a dressier dinner with a change of shoes and great jewelry! I do love the versatility of it. I would also throw on a white tank with the skirt and wear the top with jeans or shorts.

I started looking for all things green and found so much that I ended up making a mood board! Most of the pictures came from Pinterest (some are my own) where I find endless inspiration! I actually went down quite the rabbit hole with this and found everything from recipes I want to try to table settings to planters that I love! I’m such a visual person and love to create these mood boards!

From a beautiful green crudité board, earrings to dress up a simple white tee, a classic green fabric that would be perfect in any sunroom, a stunning green and white dress, a green and blue dress with raffia accessories, ginger chicken skewers with cucumber (recipe coming next week), a refreshing summer cocktail, a classic Jackie O style green dress, a table set with green and blue Ginori dishes, a lush summer planter, the most delicious homemade pesto made with garden fresh basil, amazing Stella McCartney green sneakers and classic boxwood planters, green truly is the color of the season!

The boutique below contains some of my favorite green things as well as other items in the post including shoe options for the green set I’m wearing!

I’m finally getting back in the kitchen to make a few summer recipes tomorrow! I’ll be sharing them here next week!

Happy Summer…make the most of every day!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and would love your comments!
