This & That - Beach Edition
Happy Monday! Iβm writing this post from our screened in porch on Bald Head Island! The weather has been beautiful (although hot and humid), and weβre having a great timeβ¦itβs hard to believe Iβve already been here a week! Iβve been taking long walks with the dogs and by myself, reading, eating delicious food, working (I had collaborations to fulfill) and in general just living the good life! I love my work so combining that with trips to the beach, pool and going on golf cart rides has been pretty wonderful. So todayβ¦for my first post since Iβve been hereβ¦itβs the This & That Beach Edition. Iβm sharing fashion, food, a fabulous core workout and more! I hope you enjoy this edition of This & That!
Fashion
Chicoβs sent me this gorgeous tunic a while back, and Iβll have to admit that when it arrived, I didnβt quite know how to style it because of the length. On my petit, 5β4β frame, it was just too longβ¦but, I had the brilliant idea to wear it as a beach coverup and itβs absolutely perfect! I love the length and since itβs white, it goes with most every swimsuit I own. I added the cute Pom Pom Beach Bag and Sea Shell Sandals below (also from Chicoβs) for the cutest beach look! You want to keep scrolling to shop this look because itβs all on sale!
I purchased this cute linen blouse by Rails from my favorite boutique, Rebecca & Co., in Greensboro not long ago. Itβs one of my favorite stylesβ¦slightly boho, loose and breezy and itβs so comfortable to wear. I paired it with linen shorts from Loft (last season) and a pair of Chloe espadrilles (also from a previous season). The shoes dress up this casual outfit, but it would also be so cute with flat sandals. I can picture myself wearing this while wandering cobble stone streets somewhere in France!
Speaking of France, if youβre planning a trip, youβll love this article in Conde Nast Traveller about The Best Airbnbs in The South of France. Iβm planning to go back to Germany in October and my daughter Sarah and I will travel to France so this article will come in handy for us when we start to plan our trip (which should be soon)!
Iβm absolutely loving the cute summer look in the collage above. These pieces are all so versatile and neutrals are always so chic!
Iβve had my eye on these classic, timeless sandals that would be amazing with everything from dresses to shorts to jeans! I love a versatile, beautiful shoe!
Books
When Youβre Ready, This is How You Heal by Briana Wiest is a must read for anyone on a journey of self discovery. I first discovered Briana Wiest about 6 months ago when I read her first book, 101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think and I was hooked. Brianaβs writing in her first book 101 Essays was a little difficult for me to read because of the way she phrases things. I originally thought she wasnβt American and that was the reason for the difficulty, but she was born in New York and raised in Pennsylvania so Iβm not sure why the language is the way it is. The second book, When Youβre Ready, is much easier to read but, having said that, they are both excellent and I highly recommend them. Neither of these books are ones to read in one sittingβ¦in my opinion, itβs best to read a little, ponder and then go back and read more. It all goes back to loving yourself, accepting your humanity and what comes along with that and learning how to let go of the past and move on in a better way. Wiest also has a third book called The Mountain Is You, which I will be reading soon.
What to Watch
Iβll be honest, I love any movie with Colin Firth and Genius was no exception! This movie tells the story of a portion of the life of Thomas Wolf (played by Jude Law)β¦from having his first novel, Look Homeward Angel, published to his very early death at the age of 38. He certainly lived an interesting and somewhat sad life in spite of his success.
As usual, Iβm a little late to the game and Iβve just watched this documentary about Jennifer Lopez and her Super Bowl performance! Iβll be honest and say that when I watched the performance during the Super Bowl, I didnβt really understand the point she was trying to convey, but after watching this documentary, it all made perfect sense! Jennifer Lopez has a work ethic like no other! Not only is she also talented and beautiful, she also has a strong sense of how her fame can have a positive influence on the world and sheβs not afraid to use that influence, no matter whoβs feathers she might ruffle! If you havenβt watched this, itβs a good one!
And finallyβ¦Uncoupled, a series on Netflix that premiered on July 29 is on the agenda for tonight! Uncoupled, starring Neil Patrick Harris looks timely, entertaining and perfect for a night when nothing needs to be too serious!

Exercise - Strengthen Your Core
This video was a little extra that I added to my Journey of Becoming Program last time. I thought it would be nice to share it here since we are in full swimsuit season! This workout is short and since itβs an ab workout, can be done everyday. I hope you enjoy!
Summer Food & Drinks
The blog post I did last summer with my recipe for Frozen Beer Margaritas was one of my most popular posts to date so I thought I would make it easy for you to find the recipe by giving you the link here! I love a good frozen margarita when itβs hot outside and these are by far my favorite! For more summer cocktail recipes, this post is a good one!
In my opinion, a piece of salmon with a simple vegetable is the perfect dinner for any time of year! This recipe from Camille Styles for Baked Salmon with Spicy Cucumber Orange Salsa is one Iβm going to be making very soon! I would serve this with a simple salad and a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for an easy summer dinner!
Iβm sharing so much on Pinterest and Instagram so be sure to follow me to see more food, fashion and fun!
