Leather & Pearls - Great Style or Contradiction
This time of the year, I’m always looking for ways to creatively wear my clothes because, let’s face it…I’m done with winter and ready to shed the coats and sweaters! There are investment pieces I will always love but by February, winter is dragging on!
I’ve been styling my pearls more and more lately but mostly with blouses so when I was deciding what to wear the other day, I threw them on with my camel sweater and a black leather jacket. This may seem like a contradiction because pearls are usually thought of as prim and proper, but I think it works! The combination feels a little unexpected, which I always like! The strand of pearls I’m wearing is from Julie Miles and are Balinese pearls…so they are irregular, which makes them feel less formal.
I decided to wear wide leg jeans and black boots and I added a color blocked bag from Boyy! I love this bag and don’t wear it often enough! I don’t know about you but I tend to grab the same bag every day because I’m in a hurry!
Having a few outfits already styled and hanging in the closet helps so much when I need to feel put together (you may enjoy my Capsule Wardrobe post)! Also, I think it’s a physiological thing because I’m more likely to plan an outing such as lunch with a friend when I know I have something ready to put on that makes me feel good! And again…this time of the year, the weather makes me want to stay inside and I come up with excuses not to go out if I don’t have to!
So I suppose the moral of this post, is…wear what you want, get your closet organized, and don’t wait until spring to get out and do fun things in those cute outfits you’ve put together!
Below, I’m including a boutique the similar items linked above! I always love it when you shop because I make a small commission, but I also love when I can inspire you to be creative and wear what’s in your closet!
For the days you do decide to stay in…I’m recommending two books that I started reading! The first is The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray (our book club selection this month) and the second is The Neville Collection by Neville Goddard…I’m more than fascinated with this book!
