Remember the Magic!

The more you know delight, the more you train your mind to see it everywhere.

I have a vision board hanging in my laundry room. I put it there because it’s a room I spend a lot of time in and I figured I would look at it often, remember my dreams and be inspired. Well, that has not really been the case! I see it every day, but I never really look at it…until the other day. For some reason, as I was leaving the room, I stopped and really read the quotes that I had taken the time to cut out and hang on the vision board and I’m so glad I did.

Things have been busy around here to say the least. The holiday season is a huge time for influencers/bloggers, etc…as it is for everyone. I have been going nonstop and quite honestly, I haven’t been taking the time to take care of me. I get up every morning with good intentions, but before I know it, the day has started and I’m in the throws of working and dealing with the workers that are in our home every day doing our renovation.

And…let’s talk about the renovation! I am sleeping in a queen sized bed with a large man and a large dog and my stuff is scattered around everywhere. It’s very disconcerting to not know where anything really is and considering that I make a living by talking about and sharing my stuff, it’s been difficult.

It sounds like I’m complaining and I guess I am a little, but I do realize how blessed we are to be able to do this renovation and I know when it’s finished it will be fabulous!

The Universe has a way of giving you what you ask for, but it doesn’t always come in the way you expect. I think I stopped and read the quotes on my vision board because I had been asking (in a round about way) for some clarity and some inspiration to keep going in a better way than just getting up and grinding it out every day! I won’t say that I’ve slowed down completely…that will likely never happen, but I needed a little jolt to make me get my priorities back in order and that’s exactly what these quotes did for me. I hope you find some inspiration here as well!

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and tr4y to follow where they lead.” ~ Lousia May Alcott

Even now, as broken as you may feel, you are still so strong. There’s something to be said for how you hold yourself together and keep movi8ng, even though you feel like shattering. Don’t stop. This is your healing. it doesn’t have to be pretty, or graceful. you just have to keep going.” ~Maxwell Diawuoh

One day I will be an old woman with long silver hair, magical tattoos, eyes full of light and life, and lots of laugh wrinkles. My children’s children will lay with me under the star4s by a campfire on a seashore.

We will listen to the waves make music as I tell them my sto4ries of wild adventures, of lived dr3eams, conquered fears, and a full life lived. And I will inspire journeys of their own. This is the dream of all my dreams.

Noticing everday beauty takes work at first. Its almost like a muscle you need to train, but the more you do it, the more it will come naturally to you. You just have to remember that no matter where you are, you’re surrounded by tiny beautiful things. Stop what you’re doing and look up.

Treat yourself with softness when things are hard.

The more you know delight, the more you train your mind to see it everywhere.

Become the person you would ideally fall in love with. Let cars merge into your lane whe driving. Stick your tongue out at babies. Compliment strangers. Challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for an entire day, then two, then a week. Walk with str4aight posture. Look people in the eye. Ask people ab out their story. Talk to acquaintances so you become friends. Take time to marvel at the world’s little treasures.

“She’s the places that she has a desire to visit. She’s the pieces of quotes that are splattered in ink in her favorite books. She’s the road trips she hopes to go on. She’s the beautiful characters that mesmerized her in her favorite books. She’s full of dreams, and I know that one day they will come true.” ~ Alexa Evangelista

“Yes, I am imperfect amd vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging.” ~ Brene Brown

Life’s too short to not do what you love every day. Live life fully.

We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirl winds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put on the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to grow up, for God’s sake. And you know why we were told that? Because the people doing the telling were araid of our wildness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad of what they’d allowed to wither in themselves.” Robert McCammon

I hope somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.

I hope you feel inspired by this post! Remember the magic!
