What to Wear For the Weekend + a February Funk

The past several weeks have been somewhat challenging for me. Everything in my life is going really well, but I’ve been alone much of the time because my husband has been traveling and well, I’m a blogger! I get up in the morning and work on Crazy Blonde Life for several hours, run errands and usually work more at night. I think it might be the weather, but I’ve not wanted to go out very much and as a result, I’ve become uninspired and I’ve been feeling a little blue.

At this point, you probably don’t believe that I’m doing a closet post, but I really promise…it’s coming. I have a few finishing touches and I want to give you the best tips on how to get organized. I’ve also started a complete redo of my office. When we moved into the house we live in now, I wasn’t blogging, but wanted a space to have a desk and so I created a little office for myself. That was 2006 and until about a week ago, it still looked the very same. I started taking down the wallpaper myself, which was more of a project than I thought it would be. Anyway, I’m almost finished, so that’s another blog post…my office reveal. I’m really excited about making it a chic space that is inspiring to work from. However, taking down wallpaper only made my February Funk worse!

All this brings me to a point. Working for yourself can be difficult and at times you can feel very alone and confused. I've definitely had moments where I'm filled with so much doubt that it blocks me from advancing further and creating what I really want. I’ve also been spreading myself a little thin with trying to do video, blog posts, photography, learn how to edit my videos, etc. One thing that I’ve realized is that feeling isolated gets me no where. Friends are important and surrounding myself with people that I enjoy and that inspire me can fuel creativity.

Most days, around 4 pm, I start to feel a little tired and uninspired, especially this time of the year when it’s raining and dreary outside. So, yesterday, I asked my friend Kim to come by and look at my closet with a new eye and have a glass of wine. Sometimes, when you stand in your closet and see the same things every single day, it’s hard to be creative with putting together outfits and that was exactly how I was feeling. Kim is so great at putting her own outfits together and I knew she could help me. We had the best time pulling things out and mixing and matching my clothes in different ways. When she left, I felt sooo much better. My funk was feeling less funky and I had a great and very productive evening.

What I’ve learned is that reaching out is important. You can’t always just talk yourself into a better mood. I needed to be with a friend and do something positive and fun. Tonight is another evening alone, but…Kim and I are going to continue with the fun in my closet so I’m really looking forward to it. Being around like minded creative people is important because you end up having conversations that can spark a new or existing idea. I know in a very practical way that anything is possible and that I’m still making progress, but I haven’t felt that excitement in my body lately…now I kind of feel like anything is possible and I'm more than ready to keep going and build more in the next year than ever before.

I’m sure that at some point in the future, I’ll start to feel those limiting feelings again and tell myself a sad story, but this time…I’ll just call a friend!

Now, about the outfit…

I found the top at Loft several weeks ago and immediately loved the print and color. The top goes so well with black, but has just a touch of light grey and some pink so I decided to use those soft colors and styled it with grey jeans. I also wore my cute pink wedge sneakers from Vici and a white bag with rose gold (very spring like) to complete the outfit! I was pretty pleased with this easy casual outfit!

I’m linking the exact pieces with the exception of the bag and I’ve linked several similar ones as well as a few extras that will be great for a casual weekend!
