Utility Chic Neutrals for Spring

Function meets fashion in the form of the utility chic trend. I think utility chic is a strange way to describe this trend, however, you can expect to see an abundance of khaki, patch pockets, cotton drill and cargo pants along with terrarium green.

This outfit fell together because of a trip to Target! I NEVER go to Target and get the one thing that I intend to get…I always have a cart full of “impulse buys” when I leave. I guess they see me coming and arrange bright shiny things that catch my eye as I walk along the aisles. Anyway, these pants and the cute sweater were hanging near the aisle as I was walking along and of course, when they caught my eye, I threw them in my cart. I have several different colors of the Chinese Laundry mules that I paired with this outfit and the bag adds one more element of interesting color. If it weren’t for the bag, the whole outfit would be less than $150. This outfit isn’t something that I would normally choose and when I tried it on, I was honestly surprised at how much I liked it. The pants are a perfect length for me, and very comfortable and the sweater will go with absolutely everything. I would have paired this outfit with a pair of Zara sneakers that I bought last season, but my daughter has them in Boston. Sneakers would make this outfit very very casual while I think the mules dress it up a little more. The neutral trend for Spring 2019 is so easy to incorporate into your wardrobe because we all have neutrals in our closets. You can update things you already own with a few new pieces so keep scrolling because I’m linking the exact pieces (you need these Chinese Laundry mules in your life) as well as a few other “utility chic” and neutral pieces that I’m loving right now! Also, if you haven’t already, be sure to watch my YouTube video for a few fun outfit ideas for the spring season!
