Packing for New York Fashion Week!
Packing...it causes me so much anxiety and honestly, I've always been such a bad packer. I'm leaving on Sunday for New York to go to part of Fashion Week (it starts today) and I'm so excited, except for the packing part. I started to gather things about a week ago and I'm determined to pack efficiently (meaning my bag won't weigh 65 pounds) and actually take outfits that I'll be happy to wear once I get there.
My plan is to take two to three outfits a day (it is Fashion Week after all), and re-wear key pieces and shoes so that I'm not packing too much. Follow me on my IG story today and tomorrow as I share my outfits. I'm really loving the outfit in this post because the pieces are basic and can mix and match really well. The jacket might be too warm to wear during the day, but will be fun in the evenings and for dinner. The Seychelles booties will go with absolutely everything and are very comfortable to walk in which is important! I'll also mix things up with one of a kind pieces such as my pearl necklace and fun sunglasses!
NYFW is one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year and this is my first time going. I wish I could tell you that I have front row seats to the Chanel show, but I don't. However, I do have invitations to a few shows of brands that are new to me and at least I'll get a taste of what the whole thing is about. I do know that the first week of September, the Big Apple transforms into an industry melting pot where influencers, brand reps, designers, photographers, journalists, models, socialites and celebrities alike all gather to find out one thing: Whatβs next in fashion. I'm so excited to go and get into the energy of the whole thing, possibly meet a few new friends and just have a blast! My daughter, Rebecca, is meeting me there so I'll have a buddy to share the whole experience with! I'll be posting every day on Instagram and blogging the whole time I'm there so be sure to check back.
The jeans I'm wearing in this post are favorites because they're low rise. I've said before that I'm not a fan of the high waisted trend, even though I've tried to embrace it. Hight waisted pants are great for tall women who are long waisted, but I'm not tall and I'm not long waisted, so I'm really happy to know that the fashion pendulum is swinging and low rise is coming back again (are you feeling dizzy?). I've linked all of the exact pieces below with the exception of the blouse, but I've linked a very similar one by Equipment.
I would love to tell you that I'm completely organized and ready to go on this exciting trip, getting ready to go to yoga and then going to get my nails done, but the truth is that I'm sitting here blogging in my pajamas! My plan is to get dressed, quickly make the bed and straighten up, go on a Target run, pay bills so nothing gets turned off while I'm gone and who knows what else! I'll probably be up at midnight trying on clothes and still working on packing!
This time next year, I hope I can tell you that I'll be going to all the big shows at NYFW, but this year, I'll just be having a great time with Rebecca and figuring it all out! You have to start somewhere...AND you're never to old!
**If you're local, my jeans and blouse came from Rebecca & Company in Greensboro, North Carolina! Be sure to stop and see the new arrivals!
