Life in September...
The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let things go.
September is one of my favorite months. It's the month when temperatures start to get cooler (hopefully) and the sunlight sparkles with a warm glow. When my daughters were young, September meant the beginning of school and all of the busyness that came with it, but things are different now. September has become a time to slow down, sit in front of a fire in the evenings and contemplate life before the bustle of the holidays begins! As the leaves begin to change I'm changing with them...questioning what I really want and value in my life, and how the way I spend my days can reflect that more closely.

I have been traveling so much recently and I'm ready to get back into a routine of working out, yoga and cooking. This month, I'll be sharing more recipes than usual because fall is one of my favorite times to cook...think butternut squash soup and everything pumpkin! I'll also be talking about aging and how we can take better care of ourselves and feel better than ever in midlife.
Above all, I'm keeping things as simple as possible! I look forward to alfresco lunches on the weekends, football games, long walks and hopefully just one more trip to the beach. With that in mind, today, I'm sharing a few things that I'm loving right now for September!
In a recent post, I told you all about Inner Beauty Powder from The Beauty Chef. It's a bio-fermented, probiotic formula with turmeric and nutmeg (yum), as well as passionflower and lemon balm. It promotes calm and restful sleep and that's something we all want! I've been using this powder for a few days now and I can definitely tell a difference in my sleep. In the evenings, about an hour before I go to bed, I steam (or just heat) a cup of almond milk and combine it with a teaspoon of Inner Beauty Powder and a spoonful of honey. It's delicious and warming and I've started to look forward to it every night!
Speaking of aging, you'll want to read this article on longevity from The Chalkboard. It talks about living an anti-aging lifestyle and how to slow down accelerated aging.
I might be late to the game, but I've discovered Queer Eye on Netflix and I'm officially addicted! It's a heartwarming show that will make you laugh and cry (my favorite kind of show). It stars the Fab 5, who are 5 guys that show how confidence can be hard to obtain when we are stuck in routines. Routines can be comforting for some, but they can also mean we are not challenging ourselves. Simple changes can make all the difference!. You'll love this show...watch the trailer below!
Speaking of pumpkin recipes, you might want to get a jump on all things pumpkin with these recipes from Southern Living! From pumpkin pie to pumpkin soup and everything in between!
September is a great month to be outside and a cheese board is such a simple and easy way to entertain. Watch my video here on how to make a cheese board, and for a few tips on how to pick the best cheese, read this post!
Most of us, if we're going to be honest, are planning on buying a few new things to update our closets for fall! This, in my opinion is THE perfect fall outfit...especially the Veronica Beard sweater! Fall was made for jeans, sweaters and booties!
I'm always excited about fall fashion, and just in case you want to add a few trendy pieces to your wardrobe, I'm sharing a few of my favorites below! Leopard is huge this season and even though it's "trendy", it will always be a classic!
