How I Stay Creative
Creativity comes through inspiration and I'll be the first to admit; I'm not always inspired. There are days when I can't come up with a good blog post idea, no matter how hard I try. Those are the days (like yesterday) when I need to take a day off and let my mind rest. Life can be too busy and we all need to remember that rest is important for keeping those creative juices flowing.
My daughter Sarah stayed with me for a few days last week and she brought her golden doodle, John Wayne. I decided it would be fun to do an outfit post with him...so here it is! I've had several requests for inexpensive jeans and the ones I'm wearing in these pictures are very affordable from Loft AND my shoes are from Target (aren't they adorable?). This is the perfect transitional outfit as we go into fall, however, it's not so perfect for dog walking! Links for the exact items I'm wearing are below so just click on the pictures to shop. I'm also including my sunglasses and my favorite Jo Malone cologne. Sometimes, it's the little things like a favorite scent or a pair of yellow shows that bring beauty into our lives and inspire us.
There are days, when I really want to inspire (myself and my readers) and I need to talk about life and have real and authentic conversations with you. I do love to have your feedback and know your opinions because that is what keeps me going. I sincerely want to make a difference, even if it's only to let someone know that they're not alone. Speaking to women in midlife is my focus and there are so many issues to speak to. Having said that, I cannot be serious and deep all the time...it's exhausting. Sometimes all I want to talk about is the latest and greatest in shoe styles. I think we're all like that! My goal is to provide good content from my heart to yours!
Beauty is always inspiring to me. I love beautiful clothes, interiors and food and I strive to create a beautiful life. We all have the capability to create beauty around us and I believe it is essential to our souls. Paying attention to detail and making sure that we're aware of being in the moment can keep us from creating havoc in our lives. Slowing down at times, to organize and rest is necessary to our sanity. Try to take the time in your life to imagine what your most beautiful life would be like and then stay in that state of mind. A day spent organizing, a long walk (with or without your dog), a beautiful magazine, time spent outdoors planting flowers. All of those things can give us time to reset and get those creative juices flowing. Inspiration is all around!
I'm quite sure that my most creative adventures are still to come and that's exciting, so I don't worry so much when the bloggers block sets in. When I canβt think of what to write, I try to take myself away and focus on something else. I spent the day yesterday organizing my makeup and closet and making my space feel beautiful and inviting. I listened, as I often do to podcasts while I was working. Just knowing that I didn't have a deadline and could putter around and get things done on my time was nice. Of course, I had to give myself permission because this blog is my business, but since I'm in charge, I decided a day off was just what I needed. I woke up this morning to a beautifully organized closet and bathroom and it was absolutely divine! I'm slowly moving through the whole house and I'll share my organization tips with you soon. It really feels good! Thanks so much for reading today and I hope you'll take a little time to find some inspiration in your life!
