What’s Up with Skinny Jeans + Ada Belts

01

A couple of weeks ago, I read a blog post written by a midlife woman who I greatly respect. Her fashion sense is impeccable and she gives the greatest tips for shopping and staying up to date in the fashion world. The topic of the post was “are skinny jeans out”. After looking into this more and asking a few questions, I realized that this idea came from a TicTok video made by a Gen Z age girl (24). She called skinny jeans the new “mom jeans”. Since that video posted, there have been numerous other videos made by girls and women of all ages saying that they’ll never stop wearing skinny jeans. I’m definitely in that category.

In my humble opinion, skinny jeans look great on almost anyone. They’re easy to wear with most shoes and they’re a staple in my wardrobe. The hemlines change (frayed, chewed, uneven, tulip, etc.), the rise may change (mid rise, low rise, high rise) but the fit stays the same.

I love jeans of many styles, including the new straight leg and wide leg jeans, and I’m happy to have options, but my skinny jeans are my go-to’s and I’m going to continue to wear them, while adding a few of the new styles into my wardrobe. When it comes to fashion, it’s fun to follow the trends, but the most important thing is to stay true to yourself, wear what looks good on you, and most importantly, wear what you love! Let your personality shine through! I think that’s what fashion is all about!

Speaking of classic style, the outfit I’m wearing on the right includes a Rebecca Taylor blouse that I bought 10 years ago (yes you read that right). It’s from a fall collection, but because of the color and style, it’s seasonless. I’ve worn it every year since I purchased it. I paired it with grey skinny jeans from Mother Denim, Marc Fisher suede booties (now on sale) and a fabulous belt from Ada Collection. You may know Ada belts from their famous wrap belt. This belt is amazing with dresses and paired with blazers. Since I’m more of a jeans and blouse kind of girl, I like a more traditional belt, and the two I’m wearing here are right up my alley. This outfit features another belt from Ada. It’s a great basic belt that goes well with any pair of jeans. I paired it with an off-white pair and a silk blouse (on sale) from Ulla Johnson. The blouse is from Ulla’s fall collection and has just a bit of metallic thread. I think it goes beautifully into spring with off white jeans, and I’ll wear it again in the fall and into the holiday season. Classic chunky sole Chelsea boots complete this outfit. I’ve loved the chunky sole boot trend and it’s not going anywhere soon!

Which outfit is your favorite AND, please leave a comment and let me know your feelings about skinny jeans!

The majority of my jeans and casual pants are “skinny Jean” style -so I hope they’re not going out of style anytime soon! My guess is I’m not alone so skinny jeans whether in style or not will still be seen on women for quite awhile if not a few years to come.

Hi Barbara! You are definitely not alone! I’ve been branching out some lately, but my favorites will always be skinnies! They are the best for showing off great shoes!

At 75 I love my skinny jeans, however, I have hit a small bump in my road. I have just had the first of two knee replacements and skinny jeans just don’t work with swollen knees. Right now I am loving the wide leg styles of jeans and pants. After all, we girls recover much more quickly when we look cute! My skinnies will just have to go on hold until I have normal knees again.

      Hi Brenda

I hear that knee replacement is life changing! I hope your swelling goes down soon, but thank goodness, there are so many denim styles to choose from right now! Thank you for reading today!
