A Relaxed Outfit for Slow Summer Days

01

I stopped by the farmers market the other day and came home with a bouquet that was almost too pretty to unwrap, so I left the flowers in the paper, sitting in water in the kitchen sink knowing they would perfectly complement the cute look I had planned to photograph.

I am completely obsessed with this little plaid top from Doen! It reminds me of something I would have worn in high school…a madras plaid. In fact, I can picture one I wore all the time back then. The whole outfit was styled around the top, and I think it came together beautifully. I’ll be wearing this on repeat because it’s so cute, comfortable, and practical enough to take me just about anywhere. I also think the top will be perfect with shorts at the beach, and I can’t wait to try it with a flowy white skirt!

I’ve always loved relaxed denim and these jeans from AMO (called the mystical) are exactly the fit I’ve been reaching for lately. The light wash feels effortless, the cropped length works beautifully with flats and sandals, and they’re comfortable enough to wear all day. They’re relaxed without looking oversized, which isn’t always easy to find.

One styling trick I’ve noticed lately…and completely agree with, is pairing casual denim with elegant shoes (very chic). Instead of sandals or more predictable flats, I reached for these little Madison Maison slingbacks. They’re unexpected, incredibly comfortable, and instantly make a simple pair of jeans feel more polished. It’s a small thing that completely changes the look. Try this trick next time you put on a pair of jeans and see what you think!

I’m including a boutique below with a few other favorites from Doen as well as a few other things I found that I think you’ll love…including this wicker market cart that is so adorable! I’m always struggling to carry everything I get at the farmer’s market so this is definitely on my wish list! We also finally got a new doormat and I really like it, so I’m linking that as well!

The little yellow bag (very similar here) might be my favorite finishing touch. I love how it quietly picks up the yellow woven through the plaid top without feeling too “matchy.” Sometimes one unexpected pop of color is all an outfit needs.

Amos and Archie wanted to come out so badly…they watched us from the door the entire time! I honestly don’t know what I would do without these two!

Fresh flowers, favorite denim, comfortable shoes and a bag that makes you smile…that’s the kind of outfit I’ll wear over and over again! And…if you’re looking for more affordable outfit ideas, be sure to check out this post!

Thanks so much for reading today!
