A happiness isn’t a ritual or a routine or a wellness practice. It’s just a decision, made over and over, in small moments to notice that this is it. This chaos…this beautiful house, this work I love, my daughters who are my best friends, my five amazing grandchildren, my husband…this is the life. A happiness habit is choosing each day, to see it all as beautiful!

This Hunter Bell dress, the Veronica Beard bag and my Larroude espadrilles are all linked in the ShopMy boutique below…along with a few other things I’m loving this spring!

This gingham dress is from Hunter Bell…a brand I have fallen in love with this year, is the quintessential summer dress. The clothes from Hunter Bell are gorgeous, well made and the brand is owned by a woman! The smocking, the midi length and the ruffle detail are so feminine and it’s a perfect summer dress…for the beach, for brunch or just for anytime! I’ve paired it with lower heel espadrille sandals, making this whole look very practical and comfortable (minus the tulips). The basket bag is from Veronica Beard and I love the structure of this bag. Hunter Bell carries lots of other fabulous styles right now…different silhouettes, all with that same attention to detail. If you haven’t discovered this brand yet, consider this your introduction to take a look at the website!.

So…tell me in the comments…what’s your happiness habit?
Thank you so much for reading today!
~XOXO Suzanne
Suzanne you are an inspiration to me in all the happy thoughts and words that you write..some people seem genuinely happy all the time, but to others it does not come that easy, negative thoughts creep in..even though we know that we have the good life…we all have to learn to stop and appreciate what is around us more…happiness habit for me and my husband is a good walk on the trail in our bush at home…peacefull and quiet..we now have two benches along the way and sit amongst the trees and enjoy…also we live in canada and were in myrtle beach for a month…happiness looking out at the ocean every morning and walking on the beach…oh and the sunshine almost every day
keep up the great work

Hi Heather
I do think we can train ourselves to see the positive in life and in people. I finished the most amazing book on the plane coming home from California yesterday…I was crying through most of the last several chapters, but just couldn’t put it down. It’s called Theo of Golden and it was about doing everything from a place of love, more or less. It was a beautiful story and from the very beginning, it made me want to be a better person. I think you would enjoy it!
Nature and in particular the ocean are so inspiring. I love to sit and just watch the waves and the birds and feel the sun on my face! There really is nothing better! Thank you so much for reading and for your support!
Darling outfit on you Suzanne! Being in nature is usually my happy place but also entertaining. I love to host family and friends. There are days when I am less positive and that’s when the weariness of our current political landscape creeps in. I try not to let it happen but it’s hard not to think ugly thoughts. But the good thing is that I know tomorrow’s another day and my mood will change. Keep sending out your messages of love and positivity! They really cheer me up!
Hi Harriet
Thank you for the wonderful encouragement. I was thinking the other day (yesterday in fact), that if we weren’t all going through what we are in the word today, the necessary changes couldn’t happen. The ugly has to be exposed before anything else can take it’s place I think. It’s hard, but necessary. It is hard not to be angry though…I do agree and I get in a bad mood too! My mother used to always say "This too shall pass" and those are very wise words.
You know I agree with you about entertaining and family! There is nothing more precious than spending time with the people we love! I so appreciate your support…it means the world to me!
Suzanne, I love what you do. I have been following you for years and as a 67 year old woman myself, you help me to understand that not feeling seen at this age might be what happens but that as long as I see myself and I keep showing up for myself then I am good. You taught me that.
Love the dress on you- just adorable! Love your messages. My happiness habit it coming home from work and spending time with my kitties and also getting out in nature. I have a wonderful place that I go and walk every evening that is peaceful, full of nature, safe and I can feel all of my many blessings in my life at work. You are one of those blessings. Thank you.
Thank you for what you do.
Hi Barbara
I am humbled by this compliment! I believe that we as humans, but more so as women become so much more interesting with age and have much to offer the world in whatever capacity we choose. You can’t really ever show up for anyone else if you’re not showing up for yourself first and that’s not something most of us learned growing up. We were taught to take care of everyone else first which is so depleting!
Spending time in nature is healing, but also, inspiring. The vastness of nature gives us space to contemplate and find peace from the busyness of life! Your walk sounds amazing and I know you look forward to it! I definitely understand about your furry friends…I don’t know what I would do without mine!
I’m beyond grateful for your support all these years and consider you a blessing as well.
Thank you Barbara!
I know my attitude is the only thing I can control so I wake up grateful every day.
My happy hack is movement in the morning. I hit the gym before work and get that blood flow to my brain.
I’ve built a community of wonderful humans at my gym. I would also say connection with quality people is key for living a happy, healthy life.
Hi Andra
You are the most positive person I know and it’s definitely contagous! I agree 100% about gratitude and the people you choose to spend time with!
