The Clothes We Live In

01

Years ago, I created a program for women called Journey of Becoming. It came out of a season of my life when I was reading everything I could get my hands on about personal development and spirituality and trying to better understand myself and the way I was moving through the world.

I still think life is a journey of becoming, but today I see it a little differently.

I don’t think becoming is about changing who we are. I think it’s about remembering who we’ve always been.

Over the years, life has a way of pulling us in different directions. We get busy with work, responsibilities, expectations, and trying to do all the things we’re supposed to do. Somewhere along the way, we can lose sight of the things that make us feel most like ourselves.

That’s what I’ve been contemplating lately.

One thing I’ve realized is that when I spend all of my time working, I actually have less to write about. It’s when I’m having dinner with friends, spending a day by the pool, traveling, setting a beautiful table, wandering through a farmers market, or simply slowing down enough to notice what’s around me that I come home inspired.

That’s what Crazy Blonde Life has always been about. Fashion is part of it. Food is part of it. Home is part of it. But they’re really just expressions of a life that’s being intentionally lived.

Today’s outfit felt like the perfect reminder of that philosophy. It’s comfortable, colorful, and easy to wear…exactly the kind of look that lets you get out into the world and actually enjoy your day instead of overthinking what you’re wearing. And…I love it even more because it’s a little out of my box!

The pants are parachute pants from Rag & Bone and the first parachute pants I’ve actually liked. I kept things simple with a black tank and shoes and added the yellow bag for an unexpected pop of color. My jewelry is from Vahan. These pants feel very urban to me, but I want to play with them and figure out a couple of different ways to wear them. I’ll have to be careful because of the volume of the pants. I kept the top fitted and cropped so I wouldn’t be overwhelmed by fabric.

I’ve linked everything below (keep scrolling), along with a few similar pieces that capture the same relaxed feeling.

If this idea of becoming, remembering, and living more intentionally resonates with you, I wrote a much deeper essay about it on my Substack and I’d love for you to read it.

I hope this look inspires you to put together an outfit that makes you feel like yourself, whether you’re heading to lunch with friends, exploring a new place, or simply enjoying an ordinary day. Life is made up of these everyday moments, and I truly believe they’re worth dressing for.

Thanks so much for reading today…

~XOXO Suzanne
