Years ago, I can remember sitting on the beach in July with my big thick Vogue magazine (I called it the fashion bible) pouring over the pages of beautiful fall outfits. July is the month when fall clothes begin to fill the stores and as a result, we start to think about fall even though summer is far from over. It used to be that there were four logical fashion seasons…spring, summer, fall and winter, but now you’ll find resort collections, pre-fall, holiday…it’s enough to make you dizzy!
Just as the seasons change subtly, so can our wardrobes. I’m definitely not ready to put my summer clothes away, but when the time comes to start transitioning to fall clothes (pre-fall), I would like to have a few things to pull out that feel more like fall, but are comfortable for the hot temperatures we’ll have here in the South into October!
In today’s post, I’m sharing a couple of full on summer looks that I think are pretty fabulous and a couple of looks that could be worn soonish…maybe on that day when you start to long for a cool crisp day and a pumpkin spice latte!
The outfit below has all the beachy vibes…so cute and comfortable. I ordered the lace top…I’m really pleased with the quality and it’s very pretty. You may want to wear a tank underneath, or just a nude bra would also be fine. I love the relaxed feel of the white linen pants paired with the blouse, turquoise jewelry and gold sandals..they all seem just right with this look. Beaded bags are trending for summer and the trend will carry over right into fall. I actually also purchased the beaded bag pictured below – it’s lined with a drawstring bag and is large enough for a wallet, phone, lipstick, etc.
Add a bucket hat, 70’s style sunglasses and don’t forget the self-tanner!

Even though the outfit below is a summer look, the denim dress will be great on a warmer day in September. Change the sandals to booties or Mary Janes and carry a leather bag for a more fall feel. I’m loving the little hand painted wallet too!

A classic shirtdress is a wardrobe essential, but make it madras plaid which is having a fashion moment right now. Keep it classic with simple hoops, flat sandals, but in a powder blue, and add a shell necklace to jazz things up! The leather bag is a nod to fall, but actually perfect year round.

I’ve had my eye on this little black top for a while now! It’s great paired with jeans, but would also be fun with black silk pants for a holiday look, and you can’t beat the price. This outfit has a summer feel because of the light wash jeans…the white sunglasses, sandals and pearl earrings add an unexpected element.

A blouse with fall colors along with a lighter pair of pants is a subtle way to transition into fall. Add a pair of black Mary Janes and a cream leather bag that will go with everything.

That’s it for today…thanks so much for reading!
