All The Things to Do In May!

01

Spring is in full swing here in North Carolina! Everything is green, the flowers are blooming and it’s just so beautiful (we won’t mention the pollen). I went strawberry picking yesterday and made homemade strawberry shortcake and I’ve been cleaning the house and getting ready for a busy week. I’ve also been a little under the weather with a bad cold…I’ve been coughing my head off for the past week and my voice has been all but gone. I keep thinking every morning that I’ll get up and feel like myself again, but it’s kind of dragging on! I’m trying to not let it slow me down, but it has affected a few things, like I can’t make a video because my voice is so bad! However, I’m really hoping that it’s almost over and things will get back to normal. I found this article about cold remedies from the Mayo Clinic helpful…turns out I’ve been doing everything I should be doing, except maybe resting enough…it just has to run it’s course.

This week, I have a special guest coming into town…you’ve seen her jewelry on the blog lately! Julie Miles is arriving tomorrow evening to stay with me for a couple of days and do a trunk show with her beautiful designs on Tuesday. If you’re local…please stop by and meet Julie!

On Thursday, I’m going to be “model for a night” in the Anthropologie Fashion Show in Greensboro, NC. This will be my 3rd year participating in the fashion show and it’s always a fun evening. The admission is $10 and the money raised goes to Every Mother Counts. Every Mother Counts was founded by Christy Turlington in 2010 to raise awareness about the need for maternity care. Again, if you’re local come and join me for an evening of fashion and support a great cause! You can purchase tickets here.

On Friday morning, I’m leaving for NYC to attend the Create and Cultivate Conference on May 4. It’s a one day conference filled with panels, pop ups, mic drop moments, mentor power hours, delicious food, cocktails and more. The core focus of the conferences is to entertain, enlighten and inform women around key topics surrounding life as an entrepreneur. The ever changing digital landscape, entrepreneurship, and the real talk that comes with being a modern working woman (is that me?). From launching a blog or a business, developing content strategies or just taking your business to the next level. I’ll be networking with like-minded women (most of them younger than me) and hearing advice from some of the best in the business. I’m excited to hear speakers such as Gabrielle Bernstein, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Rebecca Minkoff and so many more. This is my second time attending the conference and I’m excited to come home with new ideas and knowledge to make Crazy Blonde Life better!

The Sephora Beauty Event is still going strong! Don’t miss this chance to stock up on summer beauty essentials while they’re on sale!

Oh my gosh, there is so much more that I’m excited about…

On May 1, the first issue of Blondie, The Magazine, will be available. Last year, with the help of a few special people, I created my first magazine, The Midlife Comeback Plan. Blondie, is an extension of that magazine and will be published quarterly. This first issue will feature interviews with four inspiring (and successful) women who have become entrepreneurs in midlife. Blondie will also include a skin care column that will answer questions about the latest and greatest in the world of skincare…from products to procedures. Also, look for fashion, some delicious recipes and interiors, and so much more.

AND…Crazy Blonde Life turns 4 years old on May 3 as I turn 56 on May 4! I am just getting started!

May is right around the corner and there is so much to do! Here are a few things that you may enjoy!

As I said above, I went strawberry picking yesterday and there isn’t much better than a freshly picked warm strawberry! I’m excited to make Roasted Strawberry Trifles with Lemon Cream!

The month of May is filled with fun! May 4 is Derby Day, May 5 is Cinco De Mayo and May 12 is Mother’s Day!

Every year, I say I’m going to throw a Derby Party, and it just hasn’t happened yet! In case you’re invited to one….be prepared with the best hat!

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo by making these Avocado Margaritas from Bon Appétit! These are made with all the classic margarita ingredients plus avocado! Delicious!

Serve your Avocado Margaritas with these Brussels Sprouts Tacos with a Spicy Peanut Sauce and you’ve got a party!

I know you’re all looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gifts so here is a little boutique with a few things that any Mom would love to receive!

Thank’s so much for reading today! For more fashion, food and decor, be sure to follow me on Pinterest…I’m pinning everyday! Also, if you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube Channel to get updates every time I make a new video (hopefully this week)!

Hi Jess! I hope you’re weekend was great! I hadn’t been strawberry picking in forever and really enjoyed it on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and not too hot! My mom made strawberry jam as well, but now I think I would be the only one to eat it. We’ll use lots of them for smoothies. I would love to come to Charlotte’s Jazz festival…sounds like such a fun thing!

      Hi Nancy!

It’s Sunday evening and my exciting week has come to and end! It was wonderful and I’m a little tired, but happy…

    Hi Suzanne,
I was thinking “why is she posting about May so early?”, then I realized it’s only 2 days away. How can that be? Anyway, I made it past my scary “now I’m really in my 60’s” birthday, and just like you I have so many fun things ahead – I’m giving several painting workshops, art classes, and have three shows this summer, one that includes an incredible collaboration with a fashion designer. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with – all one of a kind designs created with fabric printed with my paintings!
I know you’ll come back from NYC with all kinds of great info to share, I’m looking forward to hearing all about your trip. Take care and feel lots better, and have a wonderful time!
    XO Heidi

Hi Heidi! I’m excited for all you have going on! I tried to send you a picture of your butterflies…I had them framed and they’re hanging in my favorite little guest room! They are beautiful and I’m so proud to own them! It’s wonderful that you’re continuing to grow and collaborate! I cannot wait to see the fabric…how exciting! This last few weeks has been a whirl wind, and I’m also thinking "how in the world can I be 56", but I am, so I might as well embrace it and make the most of it! You continue to inspire me! Thanks so much for always commenting and reading my blog!

  4. Love the updates and all of the information, so very inspiring!! I was able to catch your video with Julie Miles, beautiful pieces and may have to buy myself a gift!!
