The Only Way Out Is Up!

Sometimes you need to step outside, clear your head and remind yourself of who you are, what you’re capable of and where you want to be.  Sometimes you have to venture outside of your world in order to find yourself.  I’ve travelled so much this summer with two more trips coming up and I’m figuring things out slowly. I’m officially in be bold mode after being thrown a couple of curve balls just recently and determined now, more than over to not be shaken by things I can’t control.  Sleep has been difficult because my mind is so full and that makes for days with a foggy brain.  I’ve also been feeling a little sorry for myself, which never helps.  A good blogger friend of mine, Cheryl, from Northwest Mountain Living said in her post today -“the only way out is up”!  Well she’s right!  Figuring out where to go from here and what’s missing.  I’ve had so much fun with my daughter Sarah this week but sadly she’s leaving tomorrow, so I’m taking stock and filling in the gaps.  What is missing…?  I have adventure coming up with a trip to the Cayman Islands (maybe swimming with the stingrays), a fashion fix with my trip to New York Fashion Week, family time with my very pregnant daughter, Lauren, in Atlanta and a visit from my daughter Rebecca next week.  I think what is missing is contentment, not in a complacent way as in being content with what I have or how things are.  It’s more a feeling of restlessness and wanting everything settled now…I’m feeling anxious about what’s coming because things have been in turmoil for so long.

Because of all of this, I’m turning once again to stepping up the self care.  That means, less wine (I’m trying), more avocados and wild blueberries, more exercise and long meditative walks, more meditation and yoga and I’m adding a few supplements to my routine.

Every morning I mix my potion of powders with an extreme amount of water before having coffee.  I use Welleco Super Elixir Greens, Vital Proteins Collagen Powder and Goop Glow which is a power shot of antioxidants for my skin as well as Moon Dust adaptogens.  This combination of super healthy powders has definitely made my skin clearer and my hair and nails stronger, not to mention better gut health which is so important.  I take magnesium in the evening and I’m adding The Beauty Chef Sleep Inner Beauty Powder and Uma Calm Essential Oil in the hopes that the combination will help me to sleep better.  The Beauty Chef Sleep Inner Beauty Powder is a blend of probiotics and antioxidants along with lemon balm, passion flower, turmeric and cinnamon that is mixed into warm nut milk with just a little honey an hour before bed.  I’ve just ordered it so I’ll let you know how it works.  Sounds heavenly to me!

Fall fashion, is also on my mind in a big way, as well as new make up and products as summer is winding down. I’m sharing a whole boutique of favorite things below that you’ll love.  Some of them are fantasy for me (the shearling jean jacket), but others are very affordable and will make great additions to your wardrobe and beauty cabinet!  Just click on the pictures to shop!

I would love to know what supplements you take and any recommendations!  Please leave a comment in the box below!  Have a great day!

  1. I’m so sorry for all the turmoil and I pray things will continue to get better and better! I’m glad you are focusing on self care, I’m a big believer in it.

I take the Collagen Peptides too, and Vitamin C, just ran out of my B vitamin. I drink a kombucha almost daily for probiotics.

You let me know if you need a chaperone for the Cayman Islands! 😉

      Hi Pam!

Self care gets you through sometimes! I try to think of how I would take care of one of my daughters if they needed me and then take care of myself in the same way. It’s strange how sometimes we forget how important that is.
I also drink kombucha and I’m a little addicted to it!
Thanks for the chaperone offer…I might need one haha!

Brilliant blog. As all the answers we need are within ourselves looking after ourselves will help us find those answers. I have just started to make my own kefir again but this time with goat’s milk. I found this Swiss farmer nearby who literally pours the milk from the can into my litre jug…so raw and fresh! I mix this (slightly warmed up) to my kefir grains and 24 hours later have a probiotic health drink or yoghurt depending on how long I leave it to set. I drink a glass twice a day and I find it helps with sugar cravings and my skin has a dewy glow which I haven’t seen in years besides all the wonderful microbes I am getting for my intestines, bolstering my immune system and all the wonderful vitamins and minerals . I, too, am addicted to this ancient fermented drink. When goat’s milk is fermented in this way there is no lactose left so ideal for the 40% of us who are lactose intolerant and much easier for assimilation. It feels good to drink nourishing my body and my mind as I know I am doing something for me.

Oh that sounds wonderful! When my daughters were little I bought raw cows milk for them from a local farm so your story really takes me back! I have gotten away from so many of the things I used to do because it’s just me…but that’s pretty silly because I’m important too. I know a place where I could get goat’s milk so I’ll have to try it. I’m taking this thing a day at a time! Thank you sooo much for taking the time to leave me a comment!

Interesting that a counseling group sent me an email this am with this quote. “The best way out is always through.” —Robert Frost.
I have had to go through some turmoil myself and have found that a combination of talking, hiking and yoga along with a little time has done the trick for me. I have found relatively few shortcuts but I surely would take any that would come my way!! Sending you peace in this time of turmoil.

That is interesting!! I think I’ve been through already…now I’m moving up! Yoga definitely helps and I’ve also started some weight training which I did for years and always loved. Basically I’m just starting to take care of MYSELF! Thank you for the sweet comment! I think it’s hard to get to 50 something without going through a little turmoil!

Love this post. If you only took one supplement, would you take the Collagen or would you go with the Goop? Sending you lots of love! You are beautiful inside and out. Always have been.

    • crazyblonde says:

Thank you Cindy! I think I would take the collagen, but I’m not sure why. I’ll look into it a little and let you know. You are so sweet and I’m sending love right back to you!

    Hi Suzanne,
I haven’t taken any supplements for awhile now. I used to take a multi-vitamin, Vit D, selenium, calcium and probiotics every morning. I got out of the habit and now only have been taking the probiotics. Part of the problem is that I can’t swallow large pills, (I got one stuck in my throat one morning, and wound up in the hospital emergency room) so I get everything in the chewable form. I got tired of chewing all those gummies every day! I will try to get into the good habit of taking supplement powders with water, instead!
One thing I do swear by is Temple Spa Quietude Calming Mist, which I spray onto my pillow and sheets every night before I go to bed. It smells heavenly and I fall asleep really quickly after I take a few deep breaths and say my thank yous every night. (Sometimes I do the EFT, too.) The spray was among the products at a nice hotel my husband stayed at on business, he brought the travel size home to me, I loved it, and looked the company up. You can purchase it on-line. I used to toss and turn and take forever to fall asleep, but not anymore! Try it, if it doesn’t help you at least it smells good!
Wishing you smoother days ahead, and good nights!
    Xo Heidi

I know what you mean about the pills! I take Vitamin D in gummy form, but they taste really good so I do’t mind. Thank you so much for telling me about the Temple Spa Quietude Calming Mist. As soon as I finish writing this comment, I’m going to order. I love to have a fresh bed and I’ll try anything (natural) to sleep well.
