I have known about Wrangler jeans for years, but never thought to include them in my wardrobe because I always thought of them as more of a work jean, something a cowboy would wear, and I was right, but…that was then, Wrangler jeans have changed!  Cowboys and race car drivers still wear Wrangler, but now so do I!

Wrangler is part of VF Corporation and the corporate headquarters are located in Greensboro, North Carolina, just 30 minutes from my home.  This is significant because Wrangler was actually started in 1904 by a man named C.C. Hudson, in Greensboro, North Carolina.  It was then called the Hudson Overall Company.  Originally, the denim for the jeans was woven at Cone Mills in Greensboro.   While most of the denim used for the jeans is now manufactured elsewhere, the denim in the new line, called the 27406 Collection, is cut and sewn locally by Wrangler employees. It is made with one of the last runs of denim from the White Oak plant in Greensboro.  The collection is named after the Greensboro Zip code (27406) and woven on vintage looms that cone denim has owned for more than 100 years.  Sadly, the factory closed at the end of December and that ended the production of Cone’s material in Greensboro  This is sad for me because both of my grandparents worked at Cone Mills.

I had been hearing about the Wrangler Pop-up Shop on Elm St. in Greensboro and decided to go and check it out!  The pop-up is decorated with vintage sewing machines and other items from the original manufacturing company.  I had the best time trying on clothes and learning more about the history of Wrangler.  You’ll definitely be seeing more of the jeans in future blog posts!

Top-stitching is a huge denim trend for Spring 2018 and these jeans from the 27406 Collection are right on trend.  They fit me like they were made for me.

I adore this fabulous leather jacket and I paired it with dark wash, high waisted skinny jeans and a Wrangler tee.

The Wrangler skinny jeans fit me so well, but these “hip hugger flares” (a 70’s trend for sure) fit me well also and the embroidery detail on the leg makes them really special.  The sweater (yes, it’s Wrangler) is so soft and perfect with the jeans.

The Wrangler Pop-up was originally scheduled to close on January 31, but the date has been extended to March 11 so there is still time to visit!
