Feeling Spontaneous!

01

“Because the greatest part of a road trip isn’t arriving at your destination.  It’s all the wild stuff that happens along the way.”

When I was a little girl, I can remember listening for the train.  My family lived in an old house, actually on the same street that I live on now, and for the first eight years that we lived there we didn’t have air conditioning.  The house had a huge attic fan that would draw in air from the open windows…sometimes with so much force that doors would slam!  Even with the fan, there were nights when sleeping was hard because it was so hot.  I would put my pillow at the bottom of my bed so my face would be next to the window and I could feel the air blowing over me.  I can remember lying there and hearing the train whistle as it went by.  It was far enough away so that it didn’t shake the house, but close enough that I could always hear it.  I would fall asleep listening to the sound of the train.

I guess because of my love of the train whistle, I’ve always wanted to do a photo shoot on the train tracks.  The contrast of this flouncy, ruffled black dress with the tracks felt unexpected and was appealing to me.  Sara-Anne, my photographer insisted that we go to a place where the tracks weren’t being used…so we did.  There were however, active tracks right next to the old ones and we snuck over for a few pictures, against her better judgement!  The sense of adventure was just too strong!  Anyway, as you can see, this was a fun shoot and we didn’t get arrested for being on the railroad tracks!

Being able to do fun photo shoots like this one is just one of the many reasons I love blogging!  Fashion should be fun and definitely not too serious!!  I hope you’ve enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed creating it!  Thanks so much to my good friend, photographer and partner in crime, Sara-Anne Caudle!  Have a great day everyone!!
