If You’re Still Here, You’re My People

01

Recently, I shared a series of posts on Instagram that reflected exactly what I believe.

No preamble. No explanation. Just clarity.

And clarity has a way of editing your life.

I didn’t overthink it when I spoke up. I said what felt true and trusted that the rest would sort itself out.

What remained felt clearer.

I didn’t lose an audience.
I found a tribe…

If you’re one of the people still here, you know that you can care deeply and still care beautifully. You can appreciate good food, great fashion, and thoughtfully designed spaces, AND still give a damn about what matters.

There is room for both…aesthetics and authenticity.

That belief doesn’t only shape what I say. It shapes how I live and how I dress.

Because style, at its best, is alignment.

The way we present ourselves is a quiet declaration of what we value. Craftsmanship over disposability. Intention over impulse. Longevity over constant replacement. When I choose pieces carefully, keep what I love, and rotate my wardrobe with the seasons, it reflects the same philosophy behind everything else in my life…thoughtful choices, made deliberately.

I don’t want a closet built on trends. I want pieces that feel like me…pieces I look forward to wearing again when the weather turns.

Polish and principle are not opposites.

If you’re still here, whether you saw those posts or you’re reading this fresh, you probably understand that.

We’re not choosing between beauty and conviction.

We’re living with both.

And hang on because…we’re just getting started!

On the Jacket

This band jacket from Free People sat in my cart for over two weeks before I finally ordered it.

If I’m still thinking about a piece after that long, it usually means it belongs in my closet.

Statement band jackets are having a moment for spring 2026…embroidered, slightly structured, with a nod to military tailoring — but what I love about this one is how wearable it feels. It’s bold and still classic, and IMHO band jackets never went out of style!

I paired this fabulous jacket with my favorite Veronica Beard skinny flare jeans and Veronica Beard suede booties, both long-time staples, and an older flowy, boho style blouse I’ve had for years. I love blending these two styles and wearing a blouse I’ve had for years. It keeps my wardrobe feeling like a collection rather than a series of purchases that don’t work together.

I do rotate my closet because we have four seasons here in North Carolina (for the most part) and there’s no reason to keep everything out year-round…plus I don’t have room to do that!

I’ll wear this jacket constantly until the weather warms up, then pack it away and look forward to pulling it back out in early fall. That rhythm makes me appreciate my clothes more.

I try to buy the best quality I can afford. And when something feels special and I know it’s a piece I’ll reach for season after season, it’s worth the wait.

This jacket is one of those pieces…no regrets!

The past couple of weeks have been a bit crazy and if you’re still here…I’m so glad!

Thank you for reading today and for supporting this Crazy Blonde!

~XOXO Suzanne

I don’t do Instagram. Since you address this situation on your blog, it seems appropriate that you would also share those sentiments here. It leaves the whole thing rather mysterious.

      Hi Harriet

You are so right…I am having such a great time with fashion these days and at the same time, I’m concerned about this world we’re living in. Seems like a contradiction at times, but we must keep living and stay positive as much as possible!
