The Night Sky and Stepping Out of My Box

“I hope there are days when your coffee tastes like magic, your playlist makes you dance, strangers make you smile, and the night sky touches yoUr soul. I hopE there are days when you fall in love with being alive.”

I read that quote this morning and it totally changed what I wanted to write this post about…

The past few days have been a little difficult…in a first world kind of way.

This renovation is getting to me…there is dust everywhere, messy men with dirty feet in my house all day long. It’s loud from morning till night and we’re crammed into a room with two dogs and my stuff is literally everywhere.

I’m still trying to work…make videos, write, and do the other things that go along with keeping my business up and running. AND…it’s cold! Admittedly, I’m after the holidays are over, I’m ready to go straight into spring.

I’ve thought about getting a hotel room for a few days but I’m not sure that would make anything easier. We’re so close to being finished and soon, it’ll just be the small details and we can get back into our bedroom (I can’t wait to show you)!

Last night, I went outside for the 300th time to take our adorable little puppy out and looked up at the night sky. It was clear and dark blue and illuminated with stars everywhere. It was stunning and it stopped me in my tracks. If I hadn’t looked up, I would never have noticed, but for some reason, I did and it changed the rest of the night for me. Nothing in our lives is ever all bad and joy is always found in stillness. Even when you are in a moment of extreme joy, you still have to notice, meaning…stillness is inside, not outside of you.

Eckhart Tolle talks about purposely finding stillness and says that you can always hear the stillness if you listen. Try it today…even though you can hear noises, if you focus, you can also hear stillness and quiet…it’s pretty amazing!

As I sit here writing (in bed), with the dogs sound asleep snuggled up next to me…I know that it won’t be long before I hear the door open and the guys will all be back to keep working. But today, I’ll try to look at it differently. We have to go through this if we want to have a renovated bathroom! Like I said…first world problems. I am very very grateful that we are able to do this project.

And now that I’ve given myself (and hopefully you) a little pep talk, I’ll tell you about this look!

I decided to try and not wear jeans so often (so far I’m failing), and purchased this fabulous little leather skirt from Alice & Olivia. It has pearl detail on the pockets and I’m just in love with it. I paired it fishnet tights, tall boots from Stuart Weitzman, a cropped sweater (similar) from Madewell and a black bag (similar here).

I love the look and think it’s casual enough to wear most anywhere. I would probably wear a thicker pair of tights if I were going to be outside more because as you know, fishnet tights are not warm…just cute. I thought with the length of the skirt, the flat boots were best and I wanted a cropped sweater so that the pearl buttons on the skirt would show. I’m going to try styling the skirt with a white blouse and cropped black jacket (just got this one from Mango). Feeling really determined to step out of my fashion box in 2025 so keep watching because I actually do have some fun outfits planned…now, I just need somewhere to go!

This little sweater from Madewell has been one of my favorites and I guess everyone else loved it too because it’s sold out, but I tried my best to find similar ones that would work with the skirt as well as other skirt and boot options. I’ve had so many ask for lower price points and I’m trying to give options.

What are your plans for the weekend? The snow has mostly melted and it’s finally going to be warm enough to have a fire outside and I’m really looking forward to that! Also, we’re going tomorrow to look for ventless logs for the fireplace in our den. I’m looking forward to a little outing! Have the best weekend!
