How to Be a Happier & Healthier Human Being

I have been clearing out and getting rid of stuff lately. When I know there is clutter behind a closed door in our home it really disturbs me until I get it organized. This had happened behind the door next to my desk in my office and it was driving me crazy.

Clothes seem to pile up, I collect dishes and vases and things for the house, but paper makes me crazier than anything else. Long story short…I dug into the mess of my office closet the other morning and pulled almost every single thing out of it! I threw away and recycled most of it, but also…found a few treasures.

On a piece of paper, I had written How To Be a Better, Happier, and Healthier Human Being. I don’t have any idea where it came from or who wrote it, but at the time, I must have found truth in it because I took the time to write it down. I still feel that there is so much truth in this simple but lovely writing…so I decided I would like to share!

Never touch anything with half of your heart.

Be present, endlessly loving and compassionate towards others.

Confront any challenging situation first with a deep breath.

Wander.

Remember that your own happiness and comfort comes above all things.

Before reacting…understand.

Eat breakfast every morning.

Find the faces in the flowers,

Remember what is important to you.

Treat your body kindly.

Be honest.

Get to know yourself.

Take things at your own pace.

Don’t feel embarrassed to feel, laugh, cry, sing or love.

Remember what’s right for someone else may not be what is right for you (and that’s okay).

Never be ashamed or afraid to ask for help.

Do what you love.

Remember that you always have a choice.

Find joy in what life really is ~ living.

These are such simple things and so easily forgotten! I hope you read this and it makes the way you live your days better!

My friend Sara-Anne Caudle is such a talented photographer and I love having her take my pictures and I love spending time with her! These pictures were taken on a recent outing and they turned out better than I could have expected. My outfit just happens to blend in perfectly with these amazing arches and it looks like we’re in Europe somewhere (wishful thinking)!

This look is so simple and mostly pieces from another season. The pants are wide leg linen from Loft and I absolutely love them. The tank was purchased in Nashville a couple of summers ago. My amazing and very special bag was a birthday gift from Baldy and my shoes are this season from Veronica Beard. The sunglasses have been around forever and if you look closely, you can see where Amos chewed on them when he was a puppy! I still love them…and Amos!

I hope this post inspires you and makes you smile! Life is to short to waste your days…
