My Favorite Fall Looks

Hello from Vilseck Germany! I’ve been here since September 30 and the time is going so quickly. The trip hasn’t gone exactly as planned, but I’m having such an amazing time with my grandson Bristol and that is the most important thing!

I flew into Frankfurt and my daughter and her husband picked me up. We got off to a bit of a bumpy start because I was traveling with her dog (john Wayne) and when I got off the plane, he wasn’t there (I’ll write about the whole saga of taking a dog overseas later). Anyway, I panicked…and I will tell you that in my experience with German people…they have no sense of urgency. The dog was supposed to come off the plane first but did not. After about 45 minutes of desperation, he finally arrived! I got him out of the crate and went to find my family!

We enjoyed the afternoon in Frankfurt and then drove the 3 hours back to their house. Needless to say, I was exhausted! The next day, October 1, was my daughter’s birthday and we had a wonderful day and had the best sushi for dinner!

The following day, we were supposed to go to Munich for October Fest. We woke up to rain and cold temperatures. As is sometimes the case when you’re 20 something, planning isn’t your strong suit. There was no plan, no reservation, no hotel, no nothing, sooooo, I (kind of sadly), I volunteered to stay home with Bristol. It was a good decision because I think I would have been pretty miserable. I like to be spontaneous when I know it will go well, but not when I doubt it will go well (I think that makes me old). They had fun, but said it was like a state fair (which I hate, btw), it rained the whole time and they took the wrong train to get back to their car. I hate I missed it, but I think it was a good decision to stay home.

My son-in-law is in the Army and hasn’t been able to travel since I got here and there isn’t too much to do that’s close by, so we’ve just been hanging out together and cooking. We take long walks and I love that Bristol and I are bonding. I’ll be able to come back in the spring with Baldy and we can travel more then!

We do leave for Paris on Friday which I’m so excited about!!!

That is my Germany update in a nutshell…I’ve had less time than I would have thought to work, but I’m embracing my knowledge that everything is happening just as it should! Oh and one other thing I’ve been doing is practicing my photography by taking hundreds of pictures of Bristol. Scroll to the bottom to see this cutie!

The pictures in this post were taken right before I left and I packed most of these pieces. The weather is cooler here than in North Carolina so, for once, I think I nailed the packing!

I love to wear white (off white) jeans all year long and they are perfect with a denim jacket! I paired the jeans with a new teal sweater from Vince that I purchased from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, Veronica Beard Booties, and a bag that was a birthday gift from last year. I can’t seem to find anything like it online, but any tan bag would work!

I’m expecting some warmer temperatures when I return home and this look will be on repeat! I may change out the sandals, but jeans and a white blouse are a classic combination. I’ve updated it by tucking in one side of the front of the blouse, which I think is a fun look!

The sleeveless trench I’m wearing here was purchased from Veronica Beard in the spring and it’s perfect for fall as well! Over a column of black, it’s the perfect, chic travel outfit. I’ll definitely be wearing this in Paris and since we’ll be walking around so much, the sneakers are an essential part of the outfit! As you can see, I’m really trying to wear my clothes more instead of buying new.

There is a waitlist for the trench to come back into stock and if you love it you should definitely consider purchasing because it’s such a great piece and timeless, with a twist!

I’ve been having such a good time making these fashion collages and this outfit is one that combines some of the pieces I’m pictured wearing which is the beauty of a capsule wardrobe…mixing and matching endlessly!

Grey and camel work so well together and look amazing in the fall! My grey jeans with a new camel sweater from White + Warren are a great combo with Prada Chelsea boots from last season and a very old and much loved leopard tote. The crossbody bag is older as well from Target and I’ve linked similar.
