Split Pea Soup with Ham
We are so fortunate to have a really great local butcher nearbyβ¦.in fact, itβs been ranked in the top 10 butchers in the country. Go figure, in our little town! Over the holidays, I placed a large order (too large) so that we would have things in the freezer to pull out and cook. One of the things I ordered was a precooked ham (everything is from a local farm) to make for New Years. As usual, we had too much food and I didnβt want to waste the ham, so I decided to make Split Pea Soup with Ham and it was very delicious. Easy to make, warming on a cold night and the leftovers are even better. I chose to make this soup in a Dutch oven on the stovetop, but you could certainly put everything in a slow cooker.
