Coastal Clutch Handbags - Handmade In Charleston
Recently, I was gifted a beautiful handmade bag from Coastal Clutch! Coastal Clutch is a small, woman owned business owned by Mary Kate. Her fabulous bags are all handmade in Charleston South Carolina.
Each bag is made with luxury designer fabric and most have a vintage brooch that’s used as a clasp or just for an interesting element on the bag! These couture bags each have their own unique story and they are all works of art! In a world of mass produced items that all look alike, it’s so nice to have an artisan, handmade, one of a kind bag and I’m so proud to carry it!
When Mary Kate, the owner of Coastal Clutch asked me to choose my bag…my initial reaction was…I love them all, and I do!
I ended up choosing the bag I’m carrying here, which is made with Hunt Slonem Bunny fabric (called the Hutch Print). I love all things Hunt Slonem and this bag is stunning and makes a beautiful statement!
About Hunt Slonem
Hunt Slonem is an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker, is known for his Neo-Expressionist paintings featuring exotic birds, butterflies, and bunnies, often based on his personal aviary and characterized by bold colors, energetic patterns, and a sense of spiritual connection to nature. In case you’re like and didn’t know exactly what neo-expressionism is…
Neo-expressionism, a late 20th-century art movement, emerged as a reaction against the abstraction and minimalism of the 1970s, characterized by a return to figuration and expressive, often emotional, brushstrokes and imagery
Slonem's art is deeply rooted in his spirituality and reverence for nature, with his work often conveying a sense of wonder and the ephemeral beauty of the natural world. He views repetition as a form of prayer or worship, drawing inspiration from the meditative power of mantras, which he incorporates into his artistic process.
I came up with so many outfits to go with my Coastal Clutch bag…it really is so versatile and perfect for spring! In the end, this outfit consisting of a Cabi plaid trench coat and polka dot blouse from 2 seasons ago, ecru jeans and my platform loafers from Sole Bliss. It’s still a little cool outside here and this look was perfect for the day!
I also love this bag with white jeans, my longer denim jacket from Veronica Beard and my yellow jacket with the rhinestone collar…also from Veronica Beard. The blue in the bag is great with acid yellow, green and red so you’ll definitely be seeing it again!
If you’re interested in purchasing a bag or from Coastal Clutch, or just learning more about the bags…be sure to follow Mary Kate on Instagram and DM to inquire!
I found a few items that I think would be amazing with this bag and I want them all…enjoy!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post!
