The Most Delicious Homemade Hummus

Hummus is something I eat every day because it’s healthy, it’s a quick lunch or snack and it’s delicious! Hummus is also so expensive to buy, so I decided to make my own and I’m really pleased with the result. It’s creamy and packed with flavor.

Just in case you didn’t know…hummus is a classic dish from the Middle East and Mediterranean and it’s made primarily from chickpeas, tahini (ground sesame paste), lemon juice, garlic, cumin and salt. American grocery stores carry a million variations such as black bean hummus, carrot hummus and even hummus made from beets. All of these variations are delicious and also very easy to make. I even made hummus with caramelized onions last fall (get the recipe here). Hummus can be served as a dip, or a spread and I even like to put it on half of an avocado and eat the whole thing with a spoon…talk about a quick, easy and healthy lunch! Alternately, warm up some delicious pita bread and slather it with hummus…you can’t go wrong!
