Spring Fashion Trends - What You Need to Know...

I thought it fitting for a late February post to talk about Fashion trends for spring! I know we’re all ready for warm weather and sandals and there are some amazing trends this season, as well as a few that are questionable.

One trend that is going strong is sustainability and a turn away from fast fashion. The Veronica Beard dickey blazer I’m wearing below is an example of something you’re going to see a lot of this season…vegan faux leather that’s very elegant and so wearable.

I spent most of yesterday scouring the internet to find what I consider to be wearable pieces that represent some of my favorite trends! I hope you enjoy and keep scrolling because you’ll want to incorporate these trends into your wardrobe now!

In the world of fashion, one trend you’ll be seeing is Y2K. It’s a stylistic trend covering late '90s and early-to-mid 2000s styles. ... Y2K clothing brings back bubblegum pink everything, metallic jackets, wide-leg denim trousers, bedazzled logos, teeny-tiny bags, denim on denim, and lots of Juicy Couture. For me, the jury is still out on what I’ve seen. I can go for bubblegum pink Valentino’s, but some of the rest isn’t really my vibe.

However, there are so many other trends to love this season, my favorite being tweed! You’ll also see the return of platform sandals and gingham is going strong…I really can’t get enough!

There are many other trends that you’ll want to dabble in, but these are some of my favorites!

Homespun

Heritage techniques such as quilting, embroidering, and varying knits have ruled the trend cycle ever since 2020. This romanticization of the everyday—and crafting—continued on the runways, proving once and for all that in fashion, maybe there really is no place like home.

Gingham

Does gingham really ever go out of style? This year, you’ll find gingham on everything from shoes to bags to dresses…think Park Avenue picnic!

Oversized Bags

The biggest handbag trends of 2022 include woven styles, oversized shoppers, half-moon silhouettes, and sustainability-first designs. There is a continuing lean toward comfort and ease in fashion for spring as well as an emphasis on practicality and minimalism. Having said this…I’m not sure where the huge handbag trend comes in. However, there are other trends to take into consideration when buying a spring handbag. You can invest in shimmery, denim, different shapes and remember that classic never goes out of style. Harper’s Bazaar said it best…Life is chaos, but a good bag is forever!

Crochet

Crochet is having a comeback! Whether you’re looking to add a touch of texture to your summer wardrobe, or simply staying up-to-date with this season’s hot trends, now’s the perfect time to plunge into the colorful style of crochet. Popular in the ‘70s, crochet has officially made its comeback with designers who are reinventing the classic technique and offering a fresh take. From crocheted bikinis and bucket hats to handbags and dresses, crochet pieces will inspire your summer style.

Tweed

Tweed, introduced into fashion by Coco Chanel is the hit of the Spring 2022 season in my opinion. Coco Chanel popularized tweed…complimenting it with pearls and pumps. A Chanel suit automatically brings to mind tweed fabric and for a long time, had a monopoly on the look.

This season, tweed appeared on literally every catwalk and is perfect for the coming spring.

Celebrities such as Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart and Cardi B have been spotted wearing tweed,..and it’s everywhere and one of my favorites! I’m sure you probably already own a tweed jacket, so pull it out and wear it now!

Spring 2022 Shoe Trend…Platforms

After two seasons where designers catered almost exclusively to loungewear, the top shoe trends for spring 2022 are poised for a big return to the outside world (thank goodness). The ‘70s-era style platform is back and I couldn’t be happier!

Never fear if this trend isn’t for you… clogs, loafers and chunky sandals are not going anywhere. You’ll also find shoes with interesting geometrical heels as well as ladylike wedge sandals in all heights.
