Pull Out the White Jeans & Lighten Up!

For the past couple of years, I’ve been slowly refreshing our home! My fabric and decor choices are reflecting where I am in my life and honestly, I didn’t even realize it until recently a friend said…”you’re lightening everything up…I know you’re so much happier now”.

If you’ve made it to midlife…chances are you’ve been through some hard times in your life and clearly, lived to tell about it and…chances are, your surroundings reflect how you’re feeling!

I find that so interesting and what I find even more interesting is that I didn’t even realize that I was choosing dark broody colors when I was unhappy and now that I’ve created a different life, I’m choosing happy, vibrant colors. I don’t know that everyone is that way, but I definitely see how my surroundings reflect my mood!

This room (pictured below) that we call our parlor was painted a dark teal and the fabric was a dark plum color. It was pretty, but very broody. When I decided to recover the chairs, I went for one of my favorite color combinations…pink and orange! Honestly, everytime I walk into the room, it makes me smile and I’m slowly bringing the happy into the rest of the house as well.

As I’m choosing fabric and wallpaper for our renovation, I find that I’m really drawn to anything that brings more light and color. I definitely believe that color and light have an effect on your mood. Keep scrolling…

I did not plan this, but it’s fun when your outfit matches your chairs…I thought this look with white jeans would be fun for Valentine’s Day! It all started with my new obsession with Adidas Gazelles. I bought the sneakers and built the look around them and while they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day, I’ll wear them all year long, just like I wear my white jeans all year long!

I filled an antique glass bowl filled with Lindt White Chocolate Strawberry Truffles and they are disappearing quickly! I have been collecting these glass bowls along with Murano glass for a while now. They are beautiful on their own or with candy or flowers in them. I also filled them with ornaments over Christmas. I found a few treasures on Etsy that are linked below and here’s a little history in case you want to learn more!

“Mid-century Murano glass bowls are exquisite examples of Italian glass artistry that emerged from the island of Murano, near Venice, during the mid-20th century, particularly between the 1940s and 1970s. This period saw a renaissance in glass design, characterized by innovative techniques and vibrant colors, influenced by post-war aesthetics and the rise of modernism. Artisans and designers like Paolo Venini and Fulvio Bianconi began to experiment with forms and textures, leading to unique creations that combined traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic vision. These bowls often feature intricate designs, a range of colors, and a variety of shapes, reflecting both the cultural heritage of Murano and the demands of modern consumers. Today, they are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, celebrated for their beauty and the skilled craftsmanship that has made Murano glass a symbol of luxury and artistry.”

Right after these pictures were taken, a new rug for our sunroom (pictured above) came. I ordered it from Perennials through my decorator. Perennials makes acrylic dyed yarn rugs that hold up to anything…even puppies. They can be easily cleaned with just water and are so durable. Perennials Performance fabrics resist UV radiation, mold, mildew, and staining. The new rug is yellow and white, Amos approved and such a happy color…it completely changed the feel of the room (pictures coming soon).

I want our home to be livable and with five grandchildren and two dogs…there will for sure be accidents and with these rugs, I won’t worry at all!

You can order a selection of these rugs through Serena & Lily.

As I said…I’ve totally fallen in love with Adidas Gazelles! They come in so many bright colors and are extremely comfortable! I also bought a pair of pink and green ones…everytime I look at them I think about my mom because she loved pink and green together!

I’m including an Amazon look for less, the bowl is still a little pricy and I continue to be amazed at the things I find on Amazon!

This post ended up being much longer than I expected and I had so much fun putting it together! I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know…do you think your interiors reflect how you’re feeling at certain stages of life!?

Thanks for reading!
