Plum Crostini with Boursin & Brie + October Blog Hop
This Spiced Plum and Brie Crostini recipe is a mouthwatering combination of sweet, juicy plums and creamy brie cheese (or Boursin) on top of a crispy, salty baguette slice.
The warm spices of cinnamon and fresh nutmeg complement the sweet fruit flavors perfectly. The recipe involves just a few steps – toasting the baguette slices, preparing the spiced plums, and baking the crostini with slices of brie cheese. These appetizers are perfect for gourmet entertaining, or for a dinner party with family or friends. They are not only delicious, but a beautiful addition to any food spread.
The plums are sweetened with honey to taste and fresh thyme is a perfect accompaniment to the fall flavors.
I’ve always loved the combination of sweet and savory, so I started playing around with different ingredients and found the perfect mix. The warm spices of cinnamon and nutmeg pair perfectly with the sweet-tartness of plums, and the creamy brie cheese adds just the right amount of richness. At the last minute, I decided to make half of the crostini with brie and half with Boursin and it’s a toss up for which I liked better. Try for yourself and see what you think! These crostinis are really versatile – you can switch up the fruit and cheese combination according to the season.
Another combination I love is a rustic serving dish alongside porcelain dishes. The beautiful serving dish is from Haand (use code CRAZYBLONDELIFE for 15% off your order from Haand) and the darling tidbit plates are from Michael Aram. I have a bit of an obsession with small plates and love to use them at cocktail parties. They’re so much fun to collect!

Plum Crostini with Brie
Ingredients
- 1 French baguette, sliced into 3/4 inch slices
- Good quality olive oil
- Brie cheese slices and or Boursin cheese
- 4 large plums, sliced
- Honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Freshly grated nutmeg
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme leaves
- Hot Honey for drizzling...I used Mike's Hot Honey
Instructions
- Toast the baguette slices - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Arrange the baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle a bit of flakey sea salt over all. Toast for about 10 minutes until lightly golden and crisp (I turned mine over after 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.
- Prepare the spiced plums - In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Add the sliced plums to the bowl and toss gently to coat in the mixture. -
- Top each baguette slice with a piece of brie (or top half with brie and half with Boursin).
- For the brie topped baguette slices - put back onto the baking pan and put under the broiler until the cheese is melted and starting to bubble around the edges.
- Assemble the crostini - remove the brie topped baguette slices from the oven and top with a bit of the plum mixture. For the Boursin topped baguette slice, spread a generous amount of Boursin cheese onto the bread and top with plum mixture. Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves and drizzle hot honey over all.
- Enjoy!
