New Brand Crush - Slow Fashion with Marta Scarampi
I have vivid memories of my mother wearing capes! She loved them and wore them often.
I have no idea what happened to my mothers cape collection but looking back, as my parents got older, it seemed that things in the house began to disappear. I think my mom was slowly giving things away and I believe it was somehow related to the dementia that both of my parents developed. I say this because I have no idea what happened to most of my mothers clothes (her capes included) and many other things.
Backing things up a little…
About a month ago, I got an email about a collaboration with a company called Marta Scarampi and I was fascinated. Marta Scarampi is a woman owned company in Torino Italy and they make the most beautiful capes. Looking at the Marta Scarampi website brought back all of the memories of my mothers capes and I knew I wanted to work with this company! I had never owned, or worn a cape and these capes looked modern and so stylish!
After perusing the website, I choose a navy blue cape and I love it. It adds so much style to anything from trousers to jeans and I am now a cape lover! I look forward to building my collection of capes from Marta Scarampi and carrying on my mother’s tradition of wearing capes!
More about Marta Scarampi…
As I said above, Marta Scarampi’s headquarters are located in Torino Italy and most of the capes are made to order by Italian seamstresses who hand craft each heirloom piece with care to produce an impeccable product. They do also have a selection of ready to order capes.
This company prides itself on being a part of the slow fashion movement and it may take a little while for your cape to arrive but it’s definitely worth the wait. If you want a made-to-order cape, simply pick a silhouette and they will begin to make your cape!
Marta Scarampi capes can be ordered in so many styles and fabrics from wrinkle resistant to biodegradable wool and there is a style for everyone with any lifestyle. I’m wearing a timeless Giulia cape in navy and I’ve paired it with faux leather pants and tan suede sling backs pumps, both from Veronica Beard as well as a camel cashmere sweater.
If you’re wondering how in the world to style a cape for everyday life…
This cape would look amazing with a skirt and I would definitely pair it with skinny jeans and tall boots or switch the faux leather for dark wash flare jeans. For a more casual look, you could style your cape with leggings and sneakers. Alternately, you could add a belt for a more tailored look.
Upon looking at the website you’ll see that Marta Scarampi makes endless combinations of capes as well as blazers and mix & match sets…everything you need for daily effortless style!
Wearing this cape has made me feel a nostalgia for my mom’s style. She didn’t dress up often and maybe that’s why I have such vivid memories of her capes. My mom is still alive…she will be 90 on December 1. She has Alzheimer’s and lives in memory care. I think she definitely would approve of my outfit and I know she would love that I’m wearing a cape!
I started Crazy Blonde Life after my mom began to decline and she’s never seen what I do, but I definitely think she would love it and approve!
Do you have memories of your mother wearing certain clothes and styles and do you emulate her style?
