San Diego - What We Did and What I Wore
Baldy and I got home last night from our trip to San Diego. It was a business trip for him and I tagged along because I had never been to San Diego before. I loved so many things about it, but the highlight of the trip (other than the beautiful weather) was our trip to the Hotel Del Coronado!
The hotel opened in 1888 and is probably most famous for being the spot where the movie Some Like It Hot, starring Marilyn Monroe was filmed. As you can see, it was a beautiful day and we sat outside and had a cocktail and some nibbles while doing some serious people watching! We’ll definitely be staying at this hotel on our next trip! You can read more about the interesting history of Hotel Del Coronado here..
Because our trip wasn’t completely for pleasure, we didn’t have a chance to do many excursions outside of the Marriott where we stayed. The Marriott is in the Gas Lamp district which is a very old and historic neighborhood, but also very touristy. I did enjoy walking every morning around the Sea Port Village and looking at the huge boats in the marina and sitting by the pool. We also had delicious sushi and ate at a great little Italian restaurant in the Gas Lamp district.
I’m a notoriously bad packer, but I actually think I packed well for this trip. I wore this Misa Los Angeles dress to dinner one night. I’ve linked it below as well as some of my other outfits.
Our first night was dinner at a casual seafood restaurant and it was close to the hotel so we walked. I wore white James Jeans, a black knit Trina Turk tank, my Gucci belt and Alexander Want mules with a Tory Burch crossbody bag.
I definitely see a color scheme going on here. This rust color has been my favorite this season. I took 2 pairs of white jeans, assorted tops and several dresses. The first picture is a cute top from Loft, Rag and Bone booties (similar here). The second is white jeans paired with an Ulla Johnson top, Chloe bag (similar) (less expensive here), and Tory Burch sandals. The third outfit, which was a hit on Instagram is a Target dress AND shoes. You can shop these items below!
When I open up my calendar, it kind of makes me gasp! I have so much travel over the next month with very few breaks in between. I’m admittedly feeling a little overwhelmed…I love travel, (and the idea of getting out of the crazy heat we’re having in North Carolina), but I also love my day-to-day routine and the comfort of having my stuff! I know that all will be fine, it’s my attitude that may need a little adjustment. I’m trying to shift and figure out how to maintain some sense of self care while I’m traveling. Check back tomorrow, because I’ll have a few ideas for ways to take care of yourself when you’re out of your normal routine and traveling like crazy!
I would love love to have any suggestions that I can add to my list! Leave a comment below!
