Late Afternoon in the Gazebo

Just this week, I finally got around to cleaning up our gazebo! Our home was completed in 1933, and the gazebo is original to the house. The floor is cracked and uneven from tree roots growing under it over the years, but when you live in an old house, you learn to embrace its imperfections. It’s part of the charm! The gazebo is one of my favorite things about our house and it’s also perfect for taking pictures because the light is always good! Not being able to go anywhere has made picture taking more difficult than usual and I’ve been getting bored with all the normal places so you might be seeing more gazebo pics for a while!

Working outside and getting everything cleaned up and nice has been such an enjoyable thing for me since the quarantine began and it’s starting to look a little more Instagram worthy! I still have a long way to go with designing flower beds and planting, but just being outside in the fresh air and sunshine has been good for my soul!

The gazebo feels like such a romantic place to me! In fact, when our daughters got married, we decorated it with beautiful flowers and candles and put the wedding cakes inside. Again the pictures were amazing and we have such fun memories! I’ve always thought it would be a nice place to put a round table and have a romantic dinner one night, but I’ve just never done it for some reason. Maybe now would be a good time since we can’t go out to dinner!

I tried to create a pink paradise for these pictures with the pillows and pink roses to match my outfit. I was actually freezing my but and trying to smile anyway! Thank goodness the weather is finally getting warmer here…today is supposed to be 80 degrees and even warmer over the weekend! I’m definitely a I’m a summertime girl because I hate being cold!

In these pictures, I’m wearing a blouse by Rebecca Taylor with off-white Mother Denim jeans and Gold 42 sandals. The blouse is a light dusty pink with a snakeskin print that’s a little hard to see. My uniform for almost anywhere is jeans and a blouse, although lately the blouses have been replaced with tee shirts and sweatshirts. It’s hard to justify putting on a silk blouse that needs to be dry cleaned to wear around the house and I’m always doing something messy like cooking or gardening anyway! This is one outfit that will be at the top of my list to wear somewhere…anywhere…hopefully soon!
