Getting Ready for Fall - Making Soup and Wearing a Denim Jacket

I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for fall! We had two really beautiful fall days that were absolutely perfect and then, the temperatures and humidity went right back up. I’ve been trying to bring a little fall into my life in spite of the summer temperatures with small changes in my wardrobe, soup making and putting out some fall decor in the house.

Nothing says fall like soup and it’s one of my favorite things! This Cheddar Corn Chowder is great for late summer and early fall when fresh corn is still available. It’s also really delicious with frozen corn so you can make it all winter long. It’s very rich, a small bowl is all you need, but this recipe feeds a crowd, so invite a few friends over when you make it!

This morning, I went to the Garden Market to buy a few pumpkins for the front porch… t’s hard to get too enthusiastic about fall decorating when it’s 89 degrees!

The majority of the fall decorating will have to wait because Baldie and I are leaving for San Diego early in the morning. Its a city I’ve never been to and I’m really looking forward to getting away for a few days1 . I’ve been running around all day getting things ready and packing. I really was going to try to do a packing post, but I’m out of time! Truth is…I’m not the best packer, but I’m just about finished.

We return from San Diego on Thursday evening and I leave on Sunday for Austin, Texas to go to a dinner at Round Top. Round Top is a huge antiques fair and I’m so excited to go and see all the beautiful things! I get back on Monday and leave for France with my friend Britt on Tuesday October 1 (the very next day!). It’s going to be a crazy October, but I’ve just decided to jump in and do it!

I’ll be going to Lourmarin in the village of Luberon in France and it will be a very restful and wonderful trip! I’ll be doing lots of blogging and taking beautiful pictures. I’m also hoping to read a book…I’m taking Educated by Tara Westover, take long walks, eat fabulous food and drink lots of rosΓ©!

Last night, Baldie and I went to see Downton Abbey and we both loved it! The scenery was beautiful, the story was great and the clothes were so amazing! I highly recommend this movie! Take a look at the trailer below!

I have a new YouTube video coming out soon and it’s all about styling a denim jacket for fall! Here are a few of the outfits that are featured in the video! Be sure to check out my last fall styling video and subscribe to my channel!

And…just a couple of things that are my list for fall!
