How to Style Your Blazers for Fall with Southern Blonde Chic

It’s official…fall has arrived and with it comes cooler temperatures, turning leaves, pumpkins, soup and best of all - fall fashion! When I think of fall fashion, I think of blazers and sweaters! It’s no secret blazers are a wardrobe staple. They’re great to throw on for another layer of warmth, but they also make a great fashion statement. Blazers are classic and, in my opinion will ever go out of style. There are endless silhouettes and endless possibilities for styling them.

Today, I’m teaming up with Barbi of Southern Blonde Chic to bring you part one of our new “Fall Fashion Guide”! I’m so excited about our series and love working with Barbie. I’m sure you all know her already, but just in case, be sure to check out her blog and Instagram (@southernblondechic). You’ll love her amazing style and her great fashion tips!

Today, with Barbi’s help, I’m bringing you a fall 2020 guide for wearing blazers!

The must-have fall blazer style

So what should we expect for 2020? From classic beige blazers, heritage tweed, leather finishes and belted fits, there are so many blazer trends this year. Stores are full of every style you could possibly want, and the best advice is to find the one that works best for you. It might be long, short, tailored, loose or double breasted. I love a longer silhouette that’s boxy and has a menswear-inspired style. It’s relaxed and comfortable and still very polished and put together!

How to wear blazers this fall

I like to keep my style classic (with a twist), so my go-to style for a blazer will always be layered with a basic tee, cami, sweater, or a white blouse. There are lots of options and ways to style a classic blazer to jazz it up a little. Here are a few ideas…

Push Up the Sleeves

This is a trend that’s so easy and very chic. Simply push up your sleeves just past your wrist. Anyone can pull this off and it looks great with a stack of bracelets!

Wear a Belt

Whether it’s with a statement belt or a belt bag, belting your blazer is very much in style right now. Be careful with this one if you’re short waisted as it can cut you off in the middle. I have a hard time with this style, but LOVE it on others!

Button it Up!

Double-breasted blazers look great buttoned up and gives it a more high fashion vibe!

Layer it Up!

Wear a white button up blouse with a crewneck sweater under our blazer for a very classic look. Alternately, you can throw a longer coat over your blazer and tee that sits on top of your shoulders….another very chic look.
