It’s time to start thinking about the holiday season…
I’m resisting decorating for Christmas at this point, but I’m getting excited about pulling together some holiday looks. I think the sudden cold spell we’ve been having has made me feel a little festive.
I look at this time of the year as a season that progresses…starting with Halloween (or the preparations for Halloween). Maybe we should call it Soup Season instead, so - starting with Soup Season which is the first day that the temps drop below 80. Here in the South, we all make a pot of soup on the first day of Soup Season. Anyway, after Soup Season begins, we move on to Halloween, then Thanksgiving and finally Christmas.
My dining room table is filled with things that I’m thinking of using to set the table for Thanksgiving which I plan to do this weekend. I’ve purchased some vintage dishes that I want to incorporate and can’t wait to share!
It feels like the holiday decorating starts earlier and earlier every year and I’m not sure how people find the time to do it all. Since Thanksgiving is so late this year, I am thinking we’ll get our tree the week before and leave it outside in a bucket of water so it’ll be there the day after.
Baldy and I are leaving for NYC on December 7 and I want everything decorated and done by then so that I can come home and enjoy.
I haven’t spoken much about our renovation recently because it’s going so slowly. I do feel a little off kilter because things are in such disarray but mostly it’s upstairs. I’ve managed to keep the first floor somewhat normal. It’s probably going to be at least mid December (hopefully) before we’re finished. The dry wall goes up Monday and the bathtub is here so that’s a big step and makes me feel like progress is being made.
So…moving on to the fashion because that’s a big part of the holiday season!
Personally, I prefer to keep my sparkle a little more understated unless I’m attending a really fancy party so the look I’m wearing here is perfect. I would totally switch up the necklace and the shoes and wear this look most anywhere on a day when I want to feel festive!
I pulled all of these pieces with the exception of the fun silver shoes from Larroudé from my closet. The pants are from last season from Anthropologie (very similar here and here), the sweater, also from last season is from Vince (similar here and this one from Amazon and lots of others linked in the boutique below) and the jacket is several years old from Cabi (this one is fabulous and love this one). The statement necklace is one I’ve had for many years and I pull it out often when I want a little bling (you’ll love this similar one)! The bag was a splurge this year and I’ve been surprised at how often I’ve reached for it. This one is less expensive and this one is adorable!
If you want to add a pair of statement shoes to your wardrobe for the holidays…these are the ones! They are so comfortable (I usually find platforms with block heels really comfortable), they’ll go with everything and they’re so much fun!

Don’t forget to check out my Amazon Storefront for everything for the holidays and more!
Today is a busy one…picking out doors for the bathroom, doing a little shopping and setting my table for Thanksgiving. Hopefully I’ll be able to share my table and a little of the renovation very soon!
The boutique below contains everything in this post plus a few things I thought you might like!
As always…thank you so much for reading! Have a great day and happy weekend!
